Electrition is a very rewarding job and not too demanding for what it is. If its just general household electrical things its ridiculously easy. Pay will be very good as will the amount of work, you will always be able to find work be it with a company or self employed.
Firefighter is extremely, extremely demanding both physically and mentally. Perhaps more so mentally, you're going to see a lot of dead people, people in car accidents, people chared to death. Pay is of course very high with a brilliant pension fund but it's still a horrible job.
My grandad did it for 25 years in the London fire service, he's seen some serious shit man. Brains all over the floorsl, burnt babies, all sorts of shit.
