This is so fucking complicated, but I'll try.
The relationship with my brother, who is 3 years my senior, used to be strained. But that was mostly me being jealous of him, because he was better than me in every fucking field and I thought he was too aloof to go to my level. She swears black and blue that this was never the case. I got myself together and started to get along with him, and still do despite what happens later.

You need physics and chemistry in order to major in geology. If you have enough of a grasp on math to do well in physics and chemistry, you'll do fine. I'm also math adverse. I spent a lot of time in the tutoring center to get through my physics classes. Chemistry is easier, but also requires a good amount of studying and lab reports. The core geology classes are quite fun though.
I took most of my physics and chemistry classes at the local community college then transferred out of state to finish my degree (with a hefty amount of scholarships). I'm currently 10k in debt, so it's not too bad.
