No we're just more open about it. Not everyone is ready for monogamy or even want monogamy, whether or mot you're gay or straight. The difference is that gay people are, generally, more sexually liberated because we have to be in order to pursue gay relationships, so we're more open to being honest about whether we want other sexually liberated relationships, like NSA or open relationships. Straight people don't have that challenge in life that gay people do, so they are much more likely to just accept monogamy being forced upon them, and then later lie and cheat when they can't handle it. It seems less and less likely though. People may be clear about their intentions, but even on apps it's challenging to find someone who wants to be monogamous. You may then jump to the conclusion, well, you're looking in the wrong place - apps isn't where you'll find it. Well, outside of apps, there's not much else to look at. LGBT bars and clubs are often the 'living' version of the apps, whilst stumbling upon someone by luck is almost at nil. Maybe I'm just being pessimistic.

Speaking from my own experience, you'll always feel on the outside because intoxicated people have a connection you will never have. If you are good at it, you can play alone. But often you will feel like the odd man out. The best advice is just to have a beer you pretend to drink from, because it adds a dimension to things. I was sober for a whole year and people did question it and made it odd.
