Looking for names people. General name thread. Nothing that makes you sound MTF, but maybe secretly F all along.
>>
I'm having my dysphoric thoughts again, even though I'm happily married. I was hoping these would go away.

I've been thinking of names, and fasion recently.
>>
>>5933127
Just steer clear of the names of media-trans women of the last decade or so, Alice, Madison, novel spellings of common names, and hippy names. Make sure it's a relatively common name for your age/region, and you're golden.

Yes, and it would be a big improvement. "Aiden" is the "well we couldn't think of a real name" name.

Jamie as a girl's name for a 25 year old trans woman, idk i feel i stand out. but even as an andro name i like it as it forces people to gender me on my looks and voice and mannerisms, not on 'oh shit its Isabelle/some other femme as shit name, obvious tranny, can't say 'he' that'd be rude'

If you've got supportive parents could just say what were you going to call me. Then just use that. You didn't get a say in this name and then it'll be more natural and not some artificial name you choose that you may change your mind on during your transition.

There was a girl in my 3rd and 4th grade classes (same girl) with that name. I have never heard it since. The reason she sticks out in my mind besides having been pretty and nice was her sister was like two years younger than her looked just like her.

Well, I went with Callista.

It is a Greek name(I am half Greek) and while it isn't super popular in the US, I have met other girls named the same. Lots of people come in saying it is an uncommon name but they always thought it was really pretty and they thought of naming their daughters it. I work in retail so like everyone gets to see my name so it isn't like I ask people I just meet about it at all or ever really.

I just kept my original name, Skylar (mtf)

But, I guess it's a stereotypical ftm name, so prolly gonna change it, or just kill myself tbqh.
>>
>>5938508

normal people probably don't think nearly as much about particular famous transsexuals as you fear they do

and also there are plenty of far more famous cis women with names similar to that

if you're afraid of Jenner taint then move to England, where people are perhaps much more likely to associate you with Kate Middleton, who is cis and well liked and also frickin hot
>>
>>5940157

(but if you fail badly at passing then yeah I guess somebody could make the Jenner association; but that's not so important because a strikingly non-passing tranny will turn ANY name, whichever one they happen to be using, into a "tranny name" within at least a small social radius about themselves)

I like Jamie as a girl's name.. Never even knew it was used as a guys name til I saw GoT...

I also follow the same philosophy for my preferred name (Avery), though growing up I thought it was a girl's name... I found out a year ago that most well known people with that name are a guys, only a couple of women that I know of... Though the youngest of the guys are over twenty years older than me and most are forty years...
>>
>>5944296

yeah ashley is a great name I knew a cis girl named ashley my age (23) so it's def a good name.

>>
Cassidy?
>>
>>5945948

Who else would choose it ? Your parents?
>>
>>5946090
The ultimate is to ask your parents if they knew what they would call if you were born female.

I didn't have that privilege so I got help finding a name that sounded similar to my original name.

A young person is just going to name themselves the same way they name their videogame characters.
>>
>>5933127
Austin
>>
>>5945854
I knew a Callie from a normal family. Marcelyn sounds snowflakey.

>>5946107
This. Except my mom had some really terrible name ideas. Two of them sounded like strippers from Texas.

>>5944296
Use one of them as your middle name.

>>5937897
That's what I did. Most of them were already taken by girls I knew, or relatives, or weren't the right ethnicity. Julia, Jill, Alexandra, and Holly are on my short list.

Does anyone else feel weird about picking an obviously feminine name rather than an androgynous or more masculine sounding female name?

I went James to Jamie but I'm still a little ambivalent on it. I'm gearing up to get my name changed and I still kind of like Lauren, which is what my mom said she would have named me if I was AFAB. I actually hadn't thought about it in a while but the idea of Lauren James Lastname cross my mind the other day and I like how it sounds for some reason.

Mtf Old name Luke, New name Liv. (like Liv Tyler, not totally inspired by her though.)

Sometimes I think I picked a dumb name. But I like 'L' names and I also think in this dot com era were in short names have their pros! You don't get shorter than 3 letters!

Another con is people think it is "Live" sometimes and there are all sorts of bad puns haha. Or they think it is short for Olivia.

What do you think?

Thanks for the input, I know it should be down to me but I can't even make up my mind ¬.¬
It's good to hear that Ashley isn't a stupid Hon name though. I was worried that it was too different and "special" but IDK.
Also, I like it because it's kinda unisex, so if I'm in boy mode or with people that I don't want to know/just don't know well enough to tell, it's not so much an issue.
It can also be shortened to Ash which sounds cool (and it's a fitting nickname for a stoner like myself)

I use this one too. I know a middle aged woman named Valerie, but that's it. I think I've cemented that name with my friends by now, so I'd look picky if I changed it now. I don't really regret it cause I like the name, but it'd be nice to hear from more people if this sounds like a tranny snowflake name. But hey you can critisize my stupid fucking name that I asked the spirit world for.

"Hey, great owl spirit, what tranny name should I have?" and it told me Hazel. Now all these fucking people say "That's my grandma's name"
I mean it fits me, I'm a dainty wispy magick thing with nuts, but who knows if I'll like it five years from now, but it's my name now, as far as anybody else is concerned.
