If you get an erection to gay things on the internet but never want to act them out in real life what does that mean?

If you also get erections to erotic transgender/transitioning ladies on the Internet and you don't want to meet with one in real life what does that mean??

It is so strange I can get erections to both types of porn but never want to go out in the real world and date or hang out with them. And after watching the porno I feel shame and turn it off right away.

What is up here. Am I desensitized to porno. I started with straight porno when very young. Is the taboo of it what is arousing me. What is it. Should I give up porn so I don't have to have these thoughts anymore.

I found this in a good psychology article. I think it's meaning is that you shouldn't base your sexuality on your internet viewing habits and to rather base it on what you prefer in real life. So in real life i go for women. On dating sites I don't think twice about advertising myself to women and searching for women. I don't look at dude profiles and imagine going for coffee or cuddling or kissing. But yeah for some reason a good transgender clip can get me hard. I still like straight porn too. So I duno. I think porn is messing with people and the effects are just beginning to be studied. I don't feel in denial either.

>In terms of the last question above, one of the most difficult situations for this group of sufferers is when they experience a sexual reaction to something they feel would be inappropriate. A typical example would be a heterosexual man who experiences an erection while looking at gay erotica. It is important to note that it is extremely common for people to resort to all sorts of fantasy material concerning unusual or forbidden sexual behaviors that they would never actually engage in, but that they do find stimulating. Under the right circumstances, many things can cause sexual arousal in a person. The fact of the matter is that people react sexually to sexual things. I am not just talking about people with OCD here, but about people in general. I cannot count the number of times that patients have related to me that they have experienced sexual feelings and feelings of stimulation when encountering things they felt were taboo or forbidden. This, of course, then leads them to think that their thoughts must reflect a true inner desire, and are a sign that they really are of a different sexual orientation. This reaction is strengthened by the incorrect belief that homosexual cues never stimulate heterosexuals. One further complicating factor in all this is that some obsessive thinkers mistake feelings of anxiety for feelings of sexual arousal. The two are actually physiologically similar in some ways.
Things become even more complicated by a number of cognitive (thinking) errors seen in OCD. It is these errors, which lead OC sufferers to react anxiously to their thoughts, and then to have to perform compulsions to relieve that anxiety. Cognitive OCD theorists believe that obsessions have their origin in the normal unwanted intrusive thoughts seen in the general population. What separate these everyday intrusions from obsessions seen in OCD are the meanings or appraisals that the OCD sufferers attach to the thoughts.

It sounds like you watch too much porn.

People discount how powerful the impact porn has on the brain. It's like a drug. The dose has to get harder and harder.

Not only do we have an almost constant access to limitless porn but it's not uncommon for young guys today to view it nearly daily for years. Thats going to warp your sexuality for sure. Guys in thier 20s getting ED is becoming more and more common. That should be all you need to know to understand how powerful it is

There are threads like this here all the time, I honestly think internet porn is the root cause 9/10 of the time.

Thanks for your opinion.

I do feel shame after viewing but I do still have respect for the lgbt community. If anything it's made me a more open and accepting person and I'd never put down someone who is lgbt. Maybe it will make me more adventurous in bedrooms.

But I don't understand the replies of people saying " oh you got hard to that you're def gay or at least bi." Or "you're just in denial"

Well.

They're just calling it how they see it, only a person who's been through it can relate. As a teen I never had doubts about my sexuality despite having many gay fantasies, being around girls at school always reassured me of my heterosexuality. It wasn't until I became a social recluse that I began to become insecure about it, but every now and then I'll have a brief interaction with a female which kills my doubts, at least temporarily.
