For the trans already in transition, how long did it take to get hormones from first doctors appointment?
>>5816723
less then 2 week during which I did psycho tests and blood tests and for some reason, eye test and brain scan

Thank you! The soonest i can get in with the gender specialist here is early june and its killing me waiting but im hoping its fairly quick as i have already had blood tests etc

Roughly three months. Two to get completely fed up of an asshole asking "but are you suuuure?" for hours, and about 1 for QHI to deliver. Should be able to present the mythical "totally trans" certificate to a doctor not too frightened of the dire consequences of HRT in 5 months.

OP here, thanks thats exactly what im dreading the whole are you suuure?

Sadly there is only one doctor that caters to trans people within the state so its pretty hard to even get in. I had to get a psych referral and a doctors referral so i really hope i have done the hard part but i am getting sick of jumping through hoops.
I came out in October. It wasn't until February that I finally saw a doctor who could prescribe HRT, but was then refused treatment because I didn't have a letter of recommendation from a qualified therapist. Until I get that sorted in four weeks, I'm continuing to self-medicate.
i got put on a waiting list back in august
i got a letter a couple months ago telling me it'll be three and a half years till i can get an appointment
its then supposed to take another three months or so until hormones can be prescribed
i'm gonna have to go private when i can afford to in a month or so... supposedly it can be sorted pretty quickly that way though
it took me about a month
it took my girlfriend about 8 months

3 years and counting...
Wish I was joking.

I just self med, so it took as long as it took to ship. Probably a couple weeks or so. Trans care is really bad where I live, so it'd be pointless to go with it.
> read horror stories about doctors taking up to a year to prescribe
> Start self medicating
> see doctor
> wants me to get paperwork from psych plus blood tests before he'll give me a prescription
> could take months to get a psych appointment since I'm not self mutilating or w/e
> "Doc, I'm already popping the whore moans"
> "alright, I'm going to give you a 3 month supply but still go get your blood drawn"
> he's been pretty cool since then
It isn't a big deal so long as you aren't a total pushover

6mo, but thats because I have kieser and their the lords of gatekeeping.
the pros are that HRT, SRS (and it's electrolysis), voice training, and therapists are all covered under my insurance. they're going to cover FFS and facial electrolysis next year but fuck that im not waiting that long

I saw a psychiatrist in November within two days of emailing him, and got an endocrinologist referral from him the same day I first saw him. The hold up is with the endocrinologist, who my first appointment with is on the 23rd of March. Thankfully, I was already self-medding for three months before that. Like >>5819381, that may have played a part in why the psychiatrist wrote me a referral so quickly.

>brain scan
Wow, I wonder if they made you a research subject, or your doctor uses brain scans to confirm a gender dysphoria diagnosis.
>>5819545
What insurance is that, senpai?
>>5819554
I dont know but it was probably to confirm I'm not mentally ill or damaged
but I dunno
I got mine on first visit. But I was already DIY and presenting as female.
UK. I got my referral from my GP to a specialist back in October 2014 didn't get an appointment until February 2016. Still waiting on a letter from the endo to my GP to tell them what to prescribe. I've been self medding for 11 months, and living full time at work too since October 2015.

Got my script no questions asked on the first day I went to see a GP about it. That was after a year of self-medding and six months full time. I hadn't seen a doctor in nearly 15 years before that appointment, other than a few dentist and ophthalmologist visits.

About a month after my first psych appointment
I walked out of the endo with a prescription
>>5816723
-5 months
>insert smug face here
self med
>>5816723
I had two walk like two blocks down to the farmacy, so I guess... a minute? Two maybe?
>>5816723
i tried 8 different doctors until the urgent care hooked me up same day.
