Feel free to recommend new webcomics not in the pastebin, but don't be lazy anon, please include:
>Name of comic
>Link to it
>Short description
>Whether or not it's NSFW
>Days it updates.

If you're not sure if a comic belongs here because maybe it's not LGBT enough, post updates anyway. We won't know about it if no one posts it! If you see something wrong in the pastebin, tell us about it and the Anon will (eventually) fix it. Just keep reminding him.

Man, Liam is a moron with a victim complex and no real problems, surrounded by overly patient men willing to put up with his pissy baby shit for no reason. I'm so glad his dad isn't letting this go. This is the best arch in the comic.

I don't know how long you've been following wcg, but I've been following these threads since before we started calling it a general.

Addendum: the only comic(s?) that's ever come out of /wcg/ is Grab Finds a Dog (which btw, anon who made it, I really like the art - keep posting it!) and a shitty warrior u parody video, as far as I know.
>>
>>5734456
I'm with you on that last part. This really is the best arch in the comic so far. Everybody has put up with his shit for way too long. Liam's a completely unreliable narrator too (as much as one can be a narrator in a comic), painting his father as an uptight, puritanical asshole, when HE is the asshole!

Eli has shown nothing but love and patience for Liam in the last few spreads, and it's finally showing. As a result, Liam's victim complex is collapsing, and he's pouting about it.
>>
>>5734479
Eh, by now I've been lurking these threads for years. The only reason to come to /lgbt/, imo.

And no worries, I got no illusions that this may actually turn into anything worthwhile, but it may be good for wasting some time and having some fun with like-minded idiots.

Maybe all we get is a half-baked script, but even that can be good for a laugh or massive cringe.

Grab Finds a Dog is pretty good though. I feel bad for the anon who makes and posts it because it never got much attention in any previous threads, which have been notoriously autistic lately.

>I shitpost on 4chan when I'm not working, reading, writing or studying. I'm an extrovert by nature, but my studies have made me somewhat asocial. Don't have a bf.
>An ideal LGBT webcomic has the following qualities:
>>The comic follows a depressed and dissatisfied teenager named Nick, nearing the end of a failing relationship with a long term girlfriend. He meets a guy when he's record/book/grocery shopping, and they hit it off because Nick buys a Joyce novel/a Joanna Newsom album/vegan food (idfk). They become good friends, and Nick realizes that he likes this guy, not just in a Platonic way, but in an erotic way. They both get drunk one night and make out/fugg, and Nick pretends not to remember, but they both know what's going on. This goes on for a while, and it eventually culminates in mutual resentment. Nick finally accepts his sexuality and hooks up with guys on grindr, but keeps it a secret. Nick's friend finds out and has a violent, terrible reaction; he yells at Nick, and ends up punching him. They don't talk for years, until they meet at a coffee shop/bar/record store and set up a date to have coffee and talk. The last chapter follows that conversation, and it comes out that they're both gay and they both have partners. The other guy gets up, gives him a hug, and leaves. The last panel is a close up of Nick's face and a tear rolling down his cheek.
>>Depression, sexuality, confusion, infatuation, love, fighting, and death
>>Bildungsroman, takes place in the real world, present day
>>black and white, comic realism (pic related)
>>professional artist (sustained by patreon maybe?); releases full chapters weekly
>A well rounded LGBT character is a character that could just as easily be straight as gay. i.e. the character's sexuality can be a central part of the story, as long as the character wouldn't be a complete stranger to us if he wasn't gay.
>>
>>5735048
> Art student and retail worker with a good half-dozen irritating comorbid mental disorders, including anxiety, depression, and a good dose of autism. Well-loved by animals but perplexed eternally by humans. Currently in a five-month depressive episode, and in mountains of debt.
> 21, cis female, sales associate, Connecticut
> A comic with themes beyond the typical LGBT focused ones. I am super fond of fantasy, sci-fi and thriller comics where LGBT characters experience arcs that don't have anything to do with their sexuality or gender. Romance and conflict about their gender/sexuality isn't the main conflict. I'm a fan of heavily stylized, colorful comics (think Paranatural) but also of realistic, black-and-white comics, especially in a historical setting (think Luther Levy). I like three-day update schedules, particularly M/W/F.
> A well rounded character of any sexuality, age, or gender needs several things: goals (ones that the reader knows about, ones that the reader doesn't), fears, habits... the key thing is to construct a whole history for a character, even if there's no intention to include it verbatim in the story. A character needs to have context, a writer needs to know what happened to that character prior to the story that influence their actions and thoughts. Too many characters seem way too author-vehicle-y for me to buy their actions in the story.

Autism level rising, bullshit meter filling up, let's do this.

>I'm a spoiled brat. I don't know what I want in life so I don't do anything but waste money and space. I spent the last 20 hours completely rebuilding my Skyrim with, by now, over 200 mods, only about 50 of those being graphic/performance mods. VR when?

>21, Supreme Gender Patriarch
>Pulling a Liam, dropping out of Uni to join the military
>Currently Vienna; some barracks in germany in half a year.

>Ideal LGB webcomic is just a regular webcomic, maybe fantasy, maybe Super Heros, idgaf, the way a story is told is more important than the prelude; and the main character happens to like dick.
>There is no drama because of that shit, literally no one cares except when he hits on a straight dude which leads to awkward rejection.

Perfect example for a good webcomic would be Wilde Life.
>Greatly enjoy the Art Style, the setting is good enough, the Update schedule is acceptable and if the main character had bonked a man instead of a women it would be, without a doubt, a top-tier /wcg/ webcomic.

Well-rounded lgbt character basically: >>5735140
>Sexuality should not even be mentioned outside of romantic/sexual situations or conversations about that and when it is, it is not a trait that defines or changes the character but one that adds more to what already was.
And for cryin' out loud, please less classic yaoi-shit. There is no need for a 'feminine' shy awkward dude in a gay relationship for it to be gay. If a character start acting that way because he is getting banged or is banging another dude, then you fucked up characterisation unless you work really hard to make it work without simply saying:
>But he's gay! One of them HAS to act girly!
>>
>>5735140

I agree with having arcs that aren't related to the LGBTness of a character is a good thing to have, but I feel like an LGBT webcomic, by definition, closely follows the character development of 1 or more LGBT characters as it relates to their sexuality. I think it's possible to do that without compromising the quality or complexity of LGBT characters.
You're right about the fact that a lot of characters are author self-inserts though. That annoys me.
>>5735220

>Why drop out of Uni, anon?
I just can't seem to get into the way half the stuff is taught. It's not that I'm too dumb to get it since I get pretty good grades in everything that's not just dull memorising. But I also don't really see how what I'm learning here will benefit me later.

So it's one part that I know that I will take much much longer to finish Uni and one part just not really wanting it.
What I do know is, that I want something different. Not some day to day 8 to 6 desk-job. I'd go crazy in that kind of monotony.
Hell, I applied to a ranger apprenticeship, even if it is very very far below what I could get with my level of education.

Life would be so much easier if it were a shitty webcomic. I wouldn't have to worry about education or all that biz because it would all happen off-screen anyway. I'd probably even get a qt boyfriend.
Ah well, dreams and stuff.

I'll just say this. You can get a job with pretty much any degree, unless it's an oversaturated, specialized field or something like "gender dance therapy". I studied my true passion in undergrad, pure maths, and then I got a tech job. It's not *what* you study. It's your degree and your connections that get you a job. I know the whole
>you can be anything you want!

>If there's a will, there's a way.
Agreed, but the whole academics thing doesn't seem like the way that I want and what's all this worth if I end up doing stuff I don't enjoy and get a job that's misery-incarnate?

I may have scored an apprenticeship at an animal shelter/zoo thing with pretty good chances to get a proper job in that field. I don't need a degree or 5 year university thing for that to work and it's much much more appealing to me.
I went to Uni mostly because it's the thing that people are supposed to do after getting their Abitur/High-School-diploma.
I didn't think that there was an alternative to university with the level of education I had.

>the ideal LGBT webcomic would probably be something scifi or high fantasy thats got a romance happening in the story but the main point is some kind of adventure or smthing. dragon husbands has a nice ratio of developing character romance vs plot with actual stakes, however the arranged marriage is kinda gimmicky to me. i enjoy stuff that has characters I can relate to while theres more to it than just that. its hard for me to connect to just straight up drama. art would probably be something like Canis or Shounen Note. Update weekly would be nice. oh and id love some trans characters in it but with out it being a huge deal
>a character who is lgbt but it isnt just totally accepted by the story world, even if it is the future or an alternate universe however it doesnt need to be about their tireless struggle with oppression. i have varied interests and being queer is just one thing about me that isnt super important to how others see me so id like a character thats realistic in that way. one facet of their life should be about their romantic life or their transition but their other goals and struggles dont really have much to do with that.

>What does an ideal LGBT webcomic look like? (Topic, Themes, Genre, Art style, Update schedule)
I'm not too picky about the topic or genre as long it's written well and not preachy. The art doesn't have to be Loomis tier or anything, but you have to know what you're doing and/or put your heart into it. For a comic's schedule, I'll say once or twice a week because the more talented comic creators have careers and lives.

>Describe a well rounded LGBT character.
A person that just happens to be that. Their sexuality/gender shouldn't really be brought up unless necessary.

You must have had some bad experiences. Not saying there aren't some real assholes in it, but most of the people in that field I knew are chill as fuck.

>These people were literally unable to do any kind of work without a formula sheet, and violently complained every time there was a conceptual or theoretical problem on an exam.
I never heard of this, it's always expected to remember a formula unless it was super long and complex. Though I get why someone might get bothered by precision or accuracy, that's a big deal in the engineering world.

>Not to mention, engineers tend to think that they're hot shit, and that they're the best school in the Uni.
I keep on hearing this from other Anons, can't tell if it's all the other majors hating on STEM kids or they're honestly like that. Probably depends on what school or region it is.
>>
>>5737921
You know, the slow build got me this close to dropping it but I am so glad I didn't. About their "awkwardness", it's not just that; they are living in a time period where being gay was still considered a mental disorder by the DSM. I think their awkwardness stems not only from inexperience with other guys, but also from fear of their relationship itself.

I go to school in the NE US.
>>5738138
You must have had...
My school is in the US Top Ten. I went in expecting a great program full of bright people who wanted to be there.
Instead, I got a great program filled with virginal, greasy nerds who resented the fact that they had to put in actual work to get good grades (despite the fact that most of my engineering classes were painfully straightforward).
Don't even get me started on group projects. Lazy, unorganized, contrarian, dick measuring, pseud fucks.
>I never heard of this...
It must be an ENGR schoolwide policy at my University that every engineering course allows 1 A4 sized formula sheet for every midterm and exam.
I've literally had people PAY ME to write their formula sheet because I have very small, neat handwriting, and I own several micro pens for sketching.
>I keep on hearing this...
At my school, the ENGR school is a LEP (limited enrollment program) and has the lowest freshman acceptance rate in the University (~11%). I was accepted as an incoming freshman, and so were most of my friends from HS (we had a prolific engineering program at my high school).
As a result, every engineer I met had an ENORMOUS superiority complex about being in the most "exclusive" school on campus. Drove me fucking crazy. Switching to pure maths was the best decision I ever made. Minoring in polisci too. I love it.
>>
>>5738214
I will concede that I got along with some of the ENGR grad students though. They were chill as hell, and they liked talking about their work, which I usually found interesting.

>>5738214
Math really does have the chillest people, but it's probably because if you don't get along with people and work cooperatively there's no way you'll survive

Is this discussion left over from that +1 page showing Engineering vs English homework?
>>
>>5738191
I really liked the slow build actually. I would have hated having to read it weekly, but I started once it was about 9 chapters in so going back and reading the beginning at its intended pace felt pretty natural and realistic, as far as gay comics go, anyways.

And you have a point about the setting. I guess it's just easy to forget sometimes. The author recently posted some stuff about old psychology books on his tumblr, so I'm hoping the comic will really expand more on all that history.
>>
>>5738247
I guess this is just a different form of that conversation.

The reason I didn't respond to guy in the last thread looking for a maths bf is because I don't consider myself to be that smart really.

And those two dudes that were talking in the last thread seemed like they knew what they were talking about. But I guess that's because they're both grad students, so they've been studying that shit for years. Like, I had never heard of those three books in the image that the one guy posted, but I guess they're apparently popular because he called them "The Meme Trilogy"... Must be a humanities thing.
>>
>>5738258
Funny you should mention that, I just started reading it last week myself. I agree the pace made things really realistic, but at the cost of being a boring comic for a few chapters. But it was worth it!

I'd never really thought about this, but it's a good point. But I think that might actually be something I /like/ about comics written by women. Emotional stuff tends to just me said outright in comics by men, which might be more realistic, but can come off as wordy and boring imo.

It wasn't kidnapping even though he COULD have forced him to marry through magic. It was an arrangement and it was consensual even though the little shit forgot about the deal. And he was shitting on a guy who decided to court him. Lastly it's not the 2X century there.

>Not really his fault since he was kidnapped and nearly raped
They are on a dystopia in space, your twink on permanent period is fucked.

And I just reread the whole thing, he's natborn, he wasn't engineered. His only point in that marriage is that he has magic potential, like I said he's damaged goods now.

Its been pretty boring so far, honestly. I'm also suspicious of comics this new. It will probably just die out on its own.

Aaaaaannd... The naked evil twink reveals it was all a ruse! What I'm really waiting for is to see Kit and Orson fight over Kit, and Kit eventually fall to the dark side with Orson because he so fine.

Thank you to the anon who recommended Stereophonic to me, it's really awesome and makes my heart do somersaults.

It makes me a little nostalgic for when I used to identify as a gay guy years back.

It's really not. I'm MtF now. For a hot second I thought if I just pretended to be a gay guy I could be more outwardly feminine which would make me happier and be more socially acceptable still than being trans.

It didn't work.

Whats the deal with the boy in the pink earmuffs or whatever the fuck? I remember reading that shit in 2011 and I just found it again and its not even got 100 pages. looking through the archive there are months between updates.

I haven't read watchmen in a while, but I don't remember doctor manhattan's ass being the big, luscious center of attention during any important scenes.

Like I said, I understand the appeal, but it just reads like a completely unself-aware version of pic related.

I'm starting to think the cringiness of the main half of the comic is exaggerated purposefully.
If it is so, i bow to the success.
If it isn't, she needs fucking help.

Hey,

Your post helped me discover a wonderful comic. I'm a couple chapters in now, and I love the depth of the romance and the characters.

Thanks,

I think it's pretty reasonable that he's getting tired of Fritz's shit. Hopefully it'll at least help move the plot along.
