No, because cancer is not a mental illness. However, if you have a support system of people around a person, all saying "You're going to get through this!!!!! We all love you grandpa, fight!!!", that might cause the sufferer to be more confident in themselves and thus may take chances a person with a non-supportive family would take. Dysphoria can, in no way be compared to cancer or any other kind of terminal illness because there is nothing actually wrong with the body of the sufferer, what is wrong is the mental state and the illness is clearly amplified by congregating with other mentally ill people. This is wrong, unless you somehow don't consider the brain to be the part of the body. Dysphoria isn't just thoughts in the brain, it's a physical difference within the structure of the brain itself. Belief can affect how people choose to deal with their dysphoria, but it can't actually make the dysphoria go away.
