Are gender norm detrimental or beneficial to society?

Gender norms can be detrimental or beneficial or neutral, it depends on the specific culture in question. For example, I'd argue treating women like cattle as they do in Islam is counterproductive, as you remove one half of the workforce from any productivity. Alternatively, raising young men to be cold hearted and insensitive helps feed patterns of violence and academic underperformance.
I think bisexuality is or would be a lot more prevailent than is typically thought. I think many young people are innately bisexual, and just don't know it yet, and there's a window for them to acknowledge it or not. After a while if you just stick to one gender it just imprints.
I would argue some 25% of the population is latent bisexual, even if only 2-3% is actively bisexual.

Well, maybe beneficial isn't the right word. I meant functional.
The traditional go-getter man and housewife woman set up was stable for centuries, and still works today for some people.
