There's a reason why they say "If you can make it in New York you can make it anywhere" It is very expensive living in NYC. Everything is over priced, rent is obscenely over priced, and traveling around in NYC is almost to nearly impossible because it costs way too much. They have a huge unemployment and homeless rate because most of them were people just like you who moved there hoping for the best and got the worst. While you're applying to jobs there are over 1,000 other people applying for the same exact job. These employers can't sift through that many applications and choose one person. What they end up doing is picking the best out of the first ten they see and toss the rest into the trash. In all honesty pick a better city/state to live in. New York is in debt and will never recover from financial plummet.

It was retail, at a clothing store. The holiday season was bad, but by March we were still getting holiday levels of freight with 1/3rd the staff. Just a terribly run company, so I bailed.
