arch isnt even that hard. Pacman is easier than apt and the rest is just straight knowledge of bash and systems. If you run into problems just use the archwiki, which is god tier btw, and you will be fine.
The install is easy if you know what you are doing and it gives you more control over the system. I should have went awesome, i3, or plasma 5 this install, but whatever. Still Debian is stable as fuck and I will not fault you for it. Hell, Arch didn't want to go on my laptop no matter what I did. Oh, my issue with Arch wasn't that it was hard, I just didn't really like the package management. I'm too used to apt. I also like how debian gives reasonably good default configs for most software out of the box. Arch gave a lot of control, but I just didn't feel like going through the trouble of writing configs by hand.
Then there as the fact that it was on a macbook pro, and arch just did not get along with the old Apple uefi and required a lot of frustration to get things like the backlight working properly.
I think it's down to preferences really. Debian being so stable is definitely a bonus to me. The AUR and the bleeding edge stuff in Arch is pretty awesome though.

Both discoveryd and mdnsresponder have been complete messes. Every single patch notes includes changes to what should be mature network code.
I'm not sober enough to get into it right now. I can just say it's been super frustrating to me.
