Pretty sure Red Cross still has a blanket ban though.

I've donated blood to them a couple times very recently, two of the questions they ask are

>If you are a woman, have you ever had sex with a man who had sex with another man at any point?
>Have you ever had sex with a man from 1977 until now, even once?

I said no to both (male and virgin) but I'm pretty sure saying yes gets you auto-rejected. Even though they still test for HIV/AIDS in donated blood. I guess they're extra-paranoid.
