I'm MtF transgender and I want to be a police officer. I've wanted to be one for as long as I can remember. I feel so completely confident that even if I make it I'll be a laughing stock, no one will want to be friends with me, and certainly neither my fellow officers nor criminals will ever respect me.
What hope is there?

Well when you're pointing a gun at a criminal, they might respect you more. Besides police work is like 80% paper work unless you work narcotics. So don't worry about it. Besides if you prove yourself as an individual people will learn to respect you. Even in the military trans people can earn the respect of their fellow soldier (assuming they aren't disbarred from it because trans people aren't technically allowed to serve still)

Depends on where youre from and where you live. Id say since being trans is a psychological/medical condition you would be excluded from the outset in many jurisdictions. What kind of cop do you want to be it all depends.

Being a cop makes it over 9000% to get arrested and charged with anything let alone go to prison. To go to prison as a cop you have to do something supermega illegal.

I'm a cis les cop. We have a tgirl who works undercover posing as a prostitute. The amount of abuse she's had to take is unbelievable, she's had to do a lot of awful things to stay safe. The men joke about her behind her back all the time and she isn't appreciated at all.
She's (relatively) young, mostly passable and attractive. If you dont meet those qualifications itll be much harder for you. Being an officer is already one of the most stressful jobs you can have. I would highly suggest another line of work.
