You never hear about 'late in life' heteros or a word of encouragement for them. Heteros are constantly encouraged by gays to try it, they might like it. And if they do, they are rewarded with involuntary inclusion into a label they dont want and told they were that way all along.
Even straights think this way. No one who is gay and sleeps with a woman is then considered 'straight'.
And I just think it cheats youth by telling them very early they have no choices, that any other life plan is a lie and unobtainable. Its a demand for political loyalty dressed in scientific half-truths.
I dont suggest young gays *must* try heterosex or make alternate life plans around identity. I just reject the idea that they *can't*. When I hear people say they would be miserable if they tried, its like hearing a kids swear up and down that despite being a staple food source, vegetables are too gross to eat.
If you naturally assume you will be miserable, then you will be because you are reinforcing the idea. The misery emanates from doing something you really dont want to do. If you actually want to do something, you can be surprised.
The real question is why dont you want to try, which tends to reveal baser human issues that aren't flattering, but its still natural and forgivable.
