I think its bullshit. I'm the firstborn and I only have one little sister. I mean I'm trans if that means anything but I did tell people I was gay since I was 14 and dated as a gay guy up to the age of 19 when I realized I couldn't get away with it for my entire life.

Even if there's correlation it doesn't automatically equal causation. Only kid tranny here, bi orientation.
My biggest problem is that the main proponents of the theory are not biologists. One of the more popular causation hypothesis regarding the birth order observation was created by a "sexologist" who also works in psychology. His hypothesis is that male fetuses produce specific antigens that the maternal then attacks which does something then homosexuality. He is not an immunologist , a geneologist, or a geneticist.
There is clearly a noticeable pattern to give the theory some credence, but as I mentioned before, the lack of hard biological expertise in the theory's proponents makes me question its validity.

I don't really care what the reason is that I am this way but if someone told me it was because of birth order, I wouldn't be surprised, my brother is honestly the most masculine person I've ever known, like that kind of guy that betas on this site complain about being the standard they are held to. My little brother is pretty straight too as far as I can tell.
This theory can potentially be a factor, but I'm positive there's more to this. I still stand by that there is no gay gene and that anyone could be gay if they "wanted" to.
If anything, we may have been exposed to "male loving" or "female loving" genes.

Bisexual older son here. One of my brothers is gay and the other too young too know yet. I sometimes thought that if we all 3 ended up having boyfriends at the same time we will have very interesting family reunions.

Hmm, I wonder if there is a selection bias in responses to this thread. Also, remember that in the US there are more 1st order (considering only male births) men than there are 2nd, 3rd, and 4th order men put together due to the low total birth rate.

I'm a total lay person that hasn't examined the topic at all. That said it wouldn't surprise me if the theory has some truth to it.
Here's my inane anecdote. Both sides of my immediate family are large, and very catholic. To my knowledge every youngest son for three generations, if you include me, on each side of the family has been gay. That said and once again obvious anecdote is obvious anecdote.

Why couldn't the answer be that younger brothers are exposed to more male influence, including bonding, genital exposure or even sexual play?
I'm #2 of 5 male siblings and bisexual. I'd consider all my brothers straight. All are married to women but I don't know what they do in their private lives so I can only *assume* they are straight.

My mom's the same way now, but she's also told us of her abortion before my oldest sister. Many opponents have had at least one... they just don't spread that sort of personal info around (especially if they're religious.)
