I started a thread last week about finding a new public and acceptable term for trans people that would NOT serve as an umbrella term for all the wakos. The argument was that including people like that would only hurt our cause.
Sadly, the thread got over run by AGP weirdos and the "You don't need dysphoria" camp before we had a chance to make any decent plans. Anyways,I just came back to this tumblr shit hole to say fuck you.

I don't know. A successful campaign was waged against the trans* asterisk. I don't know how it hasn't deflected non-binary overelaboration, too. If it's on the account of the former being mainly afab promoted, and the latter being more significantly amab promoted, that's like the only difference I can think of save magnitude and the plain changing of times.
I don't really care about people's autogynephilia that much except insofar as it seems to affect one's conception of what a woman is via however longer a person has lived their lives as a man, which runs from things as harmless as cringey phases, to policing others according to stereotypes. Otherwise, if one's gynephilia collides with what they see in the mirror I don't really care, because if it were only autogynephilia reinforcing their being trans, their own HRT should at least attenuate the effects of such a thing literally somehow bleeding into life decisions. We would see a lot people remit and happily, non-neurotically detransition. Transitioning isn't a very intelligent life choice unless you feel you have to.
Normally it's okay to criticise other women on matters of potential internalised misogyny. I think it's just more of an issue that it's taboo to do so when it's trans women, bearded "no ho" types, whatever.

But transexual doesn't inherently mean anything about dysphoria. All it means is a person who transitions sexes, hence the term. trans (change) sexual (sexual expression).
If anything, transgender implies dysphoria.

I would say you have to be able to do both. People may have cause to worry about how they are being defined and depicted. Our own community's problems, and who we are expect to humour during conflicts of their apparently not being seen as "trans enough" when some don't even want to transition even if circumstances facilitated it, might actually be impacting us. I imagine many of these people who want to be mistaken for trans now will evaporate when shit hits the fan.
Now this is from Gendertrender, which sucks, but is generally good for tracking initiatives against our rights because that's their specialty. Otherwise, if you do follow TW-ERF politics you can see how trans people are still pretty outgunned when it comes to yet having comparably motivated professional or academically accomplished and affluent people amongst them to make a case for us, save a few celebs. Wondering honestly about people who don't even want to transition if they could even under ideal circumstances, and people who might have more credible reasons they want to start off with a new identity like rapists, might be a good place to start. Even cis women rape, which complicates things, but the volume of rapists in prison suddenly seeking transfer or attempted self re-invention upon release seems a bit high and potentially merits analysis.
