Our own family doesn't love us as much as they say they do, if they ever actually said it. Our straight 'friends' snicker behind our backs as soon as we leave the room and think of us in the most depraved and humiliating visions. By the time we know what we want, it's too late and gay death snatches us. We take the brunt of society's animus for things others screech about that we never even personally wanted or asked for. If its not mobs of angry straight people waiting to kill us, its death and disease around every corner. A gay life is a ruined life, where vice and self delusion are the only escape from misery, dread, doom and despair. As soon as you are foolish enough to come out to profess love for someone, they ditch you like everyone else and you're left to pick up the shattered pieces of a life you will never get back.
Oh god, why must this ruin and rot befall me? All is lost, wasted and destroyed. As I age, I will become further and further isolated, even men will reject me, and I will be left trying to be social with the most warped and deranged weirdos that crawl this hellish world. Old men in make up. Fat people in ill fitting clothes and horrible hair. Even my cat sneers at me with contempt. It's as if it senses the dark shadow of failure looming over my ruined life. I now see the difference between people understanding PC as a concept and actually thinking within it. What sort of levity could there be, I suppose, when everything is offensive and people are constantly looking to expand their own sense of victim-hood. If misery is the goal, things like irony, sarcasm, humor and general levity would then appear like alien puzzles.
PC isn't the first phenomenon to produce this effect in a culture. But you do see it in everywhere there is oppression. When by religious, government or other authoritarian decree any parody can be a crime, people simply stop practicing levity until its such a habit they cant even detect it anymore out of perpetual wariness to hostility, threats and traps.
