Find an area of beach open enough that there isn't any cover within arrow range. Dig in with semi-auto battle rifles and possibly a medium machine gun for support. If time allows, put rolls of barbwire out about 10 yards from the firing line.
If and when they realize the position is unassailable, attempt to capture any wounded in the kill zone and establish communication. If communication can be established, attempt to get the captured natives to convince the others to surrender.
If not, move inland with light armored vehicles.
They didn't know the shipwrecked ship was that, they probably thought it was a trick and they were being invaded. I'd imagine they have a strong folklore that the outside world is hostile and dangerous, and for the overwhelming majority of their history, it was. Tents and a working long range radio station, incase of some monsoon or storm which'd distort comms with the main CP, which'd be some converted fishing trawler or a National Geographic expedition ship.
Afterwords, if the beach is secured with good eyes on, have David Attenborough and his crew or whoever the fuck the new guy is come to shore. Leave a small garrison at the new camp, and proceed into the jungle, control burning or cutting down tree's to make an easy path and clearer viability. Hopefully stumble upon a\the Tribes village and start communications. If they get hostile, bug out. Shoot to kill only if they attack first. If they where hostile, send out a two man dark-recce team to watch the village and its occupants.

As soon as the first arrows patter of the armor, get "angry", shoot tracers above their heads launch some flares honk the horns and whatever, charge the attackers.
Follow them back to the village, knock over a hut or two and return to the jungle.
Do this every now and then untill virgin sacrifice are being brought. Take her in for sexytimes inside the vehicle.

But hypothetically, if I did want to scare the shit out of them, I'd park an aircraft carrier off the coast of the island, do some flybys with fighter jets and then send a fully equipped marine invasion force onto the island. To them, it would be like a goddamn alien invasion.
