I would love to see my home state ship as a Kancolle. I always imagined her as the "Most Beautiful" warship in the world. She is tall (an inch or so shorter than Iowa) with a buxom chest (as all Battleships have) and has long wavy black hair and, unlike Iowa, carries a certain lady-like gracefulness to her, similar to Yamato. She also wears a Bowler hat (representing the unique shape of her lookout "crow's nest"). She normally wears a long sleeve onepiece dress that reaches to her ankles. She switches between red, white, and blue dresses daily. But all of them have "55" sewn into the upper right sleeves and an upside-down pentagon shaped patch on left chest with "BB55" marked inside. In battle gear however, her dress shortens to her upper calves for mobility. She also has a CXAM-1 radar sticking out the back of her bowler hat. She also has a small seaplane crane and launcher than hangs off the back of her backpack turret. She's so beautiful that people come from miles around just to try and catch a glimpse of her. As such there's always a crowd following her wherever she goes earning her the nickname "The Showgirl" (a play on her nickname "The Showboat"). When she goes into battle she carries a Spartan like shield around and carries 2 5 inch mount "handheld" dual purpose guns. One in each hand. This gives her immense AA firepower. She is obsessed with protecting her Enterprise Onee-sama and keeping her safe (Akin to how the NC and Enterprise were nearly inseparable during the actual war). She can put up so much AA that she is often mistaken for being on fire do to all the smoke she puts out as a result. Two of her 16" 45 caliber turrets are to her side while her third Turret is warn like a backpack when not in use (Guns pointed up) and swings to either side when it's time for battle (depending on which side the enemy currently is).

I'll probably break this up into a few set standards that seem to crop up a lot, those standards being 16.4, 20, and 12.5. So:

Hair length is one aspect that can be built upon and it seems like we've established a good consistency for it. Color will definitely take a good deal of discussion to sort out.
However hairstyles have a fuckload of variety to work with; and depending on what the drawfags are capable of it can go a long way to differentiate characters. Hell, it'll probably end up being the primary way to tell them apart, aside from basic facial features (which again depends on the drawfags).

How about this guys. There are different colors of handguards, let alone, different woodstains variations, color patterns, etc. Since the manga/anime style has always gotten the same problem to differentiate characters due to the similar appearances in facial features. To solve this issue, its best if we don't standardize hair style associated to the firearm. Hairstyle should just be free to vary between characters (let alone the amount of hairstyles, bangs, braids, etc) and can also change (As what we had with Funco in the manga). Thus we can base the handguard as a primary sense of hiar color, OR, we can associate the nationality of a county to determine the hair colors and textures that's commonly associated with the ethnic groups. Both AR 18, AR 10, and M16 have black handguards, yet they're shown with blonde hair. There's also AK74 having a wooden hand guard, but she's shown instead with silver hair. To prevent such complexity, I'd say we let the ethnic group of the raifus nationality associate their hair.
