Just shot my first couple of guns today. I'm 21 years old and fired a .22 revolver, .22 Luger and a 9mm gun. (Can't remember what kind)
Shot them all for around an hour or so at the range. It was fun, but now I am thinking of getting one for protection. What kind of pistol would you recommend for home safety and should I take a class or just keep practicing?

Go to a gun store and ask to hold the following:
Glock 19
Glock 43
Cz75 compact
Springfield xds or xds mod2

These are relatively cheap 9mm pistols in a compact to sub compact size. You are going to need to hold them and possibly rent and shoot them at a gun store or range to get a grasp of what feels good to shoot in your hands. If you cant rent or try out any guns, then purchase the one that feels best when held with a proper grip.

If you can attend a class do so. You can also ask for recommendations on what gun to get from the instructor. If you have a buddy to teach you the basics, that also helps.

Rule 1) NEVER male your picture more interesting than your question.

I know its not yours, ive been on this site far too long and that makes me sad.

To answer your question:

Ultra poor edition- Hi-Point. Ergonomics of a cast iron brick, aesthetics of a REALLY ugly brick. However, they are reliable and will shoot bullets.

Not a massive poor faggot- Glock 17. Rock solid. Reliable as fuck. Proven time and time again.

Not a poor faggot BUT a massive hipster who just CANT get a Glock because Glocks are too mainstream- Springfield XD, S&W M&P, Walther PPQ. They will go bang, and throw 9mm, but with less aftermarket support than Glock.

I wouldn't worry about it

Depends. Ask the guy who took you out shooting, many of us are very willing to help out people who want to get into it. You want to know your safety like the back of your hand. That is first and paramount and always. After that you can learn anything you want on your own more or less.

Please buy a nice bolt action 22 and learn to shoot well without a flinch in three positions on irons. Then buy a cap and ball revolver and learn to load and shoot it. Then get an air rifle and learn to shoot in battery. Then get a 22 semi rifle and learn to shoot silhouette. Then get a scope and rest for your bolt action and learn to shoot rim fire bench,
Then buy a shotgun and learn to bust clays. Practise with slugs at 60 meters and learn about chokes and gauges learn to reload.

Then buy a semi target auto 22 handgun and learn to shoot it.

Then get a silencer for your 22 bolt and learn about bullets, ball, subsonic ad hp and hv.

Then buy a clossbow recurve and learn to string and fletch for it and how to chose heads by grain and judge range well by eye up to 100M.

Learn how to clean and maintain all your weapons and tune and zero them all. Buy and learn parallax scope and non parallax scopes, fine and broad moa clicks, mirage and wind, holosights optical and laser rangefinders and wind flags. Buy a kestrel wind meter.

THEN buy a CF hand gun and rifle and learn to load for them and shoot them

Finally build your own long range CF bed it, tune your barrel and load for harmonics and tune every mm from bolt spring to trigger and crown.

Then you'll be a man my son.

There's no quick path.

Safety. Safety. Safety. Correct.

You are about to embark on the best hobby interest a person can find. Enjoy.

Oh my god. What the fuck kind of fudd are you? Pls be a troll.

OP, some solid pistols have been recommended ITT, but pls consider the Walther CCP. It is priced under $400 and has quite interesting features for personal and home defense.

My body is ready for the hate but...
Pic related are great guns. I personally am able to shoot a little faster and more accurately with these than with other polymer frame guns I have tried. If you find yourself wanting something that's a little more comfortable in hand, pick one up in your LGS for shits and giggles.

Yes, some are expensive but don't count them out, I picked up the P30Sk last week for $617.50 out the door.

We don't hate you, anon. H&K does.

Check your fucking toes what the fuck .

I can shoot. Can you? If you think buying something will compensate for actually learning how to and semi handguns and ARs and a nugget is *it* then I'd have a hunch you can't shoot for shit.

Please clarify
>>
>>29432211
No one is going to go through all of that just to "earn" the privilege of owning their first centerfire hand gun. So fuck you for trying to scare off a potential gun owner. You sound just as bad as that cuck "British shooting" shill who goes on BBC talking about how semi autos should be B& in America because they aren't needed for "sport shooting."

OP wants a gun to defend himself with. Fuck your two years until he gets one.
>>
>>29432291
H&K thinks you suck. And they hate you.
>>
>>29432211
Furthermore, I do not own either an AR nor a nugget. Fuck you for assuming shit about me.

I, also, will not be viewing your shitty you tube video, so shove the link up your ass.
>>
>>29432301
Huh... Had no idea. Well I guess we'll just have a business relationship then.
>>
>>29432293
So the guy can't get a .22 bolt and enjoy learning to shoot 3P for a while because according to you he should immediately develop a flinch and start emptying semi auto mags.

I see you are an angry manchild who does not love shooting and can't shoot flipping through catalogues of guns that feature in video games.

Learn to shoot and pop those zits you faggot.

READ THE FUCKING OP YOU MASSIVE BITCH!!!!!!!

OP wants a defensive weapon.

A

DEFENSIVE

WEAPON....

Fuck your positional shooting.

When nigs, mudslimes, or socialists are in the wire, you need a fucking magazine fed weapon!!!
>>
>>29432388
So you think a 'defensive weapon' implies not learning to shoot. Do go on
