Poorfag here. What does /k/ recommend as far as low price, but still functional handguns? Also general handgun info thread.

>bulgarian makarov
>police trade in glock 19/17
>police trade in m&p 9

What's good about buying trade in glocks is that they usually have the plastic sights replaced with tritiums or at the least metal ones.

I think you have the right mindset already but it's always better to buy a good used gun over a new shit gun for the same price.

Keep an eye out on places like cdnn, topgunsupply and aimsurplus for deals

To add to this, if you can find an FEG Hi Power, they're pretty good buys. Ammo is common, mags arent too expensive, and they're literally just Hungarian made Hi Powers.
>>
I'm excited for the AREX, basically a P226 with a manual safety and $400 off MSRP.

Good bit of recommendations in this thread are good, would add in police trade in or used S&W revolvers.

Most 2nd hand S&W revolvers, something in .38 or .357 generally isn't very expensive and they're generally very well made without much to go wrong. Ruger also make a couple of decent revolvers as well that might be even cheaper.

>>
>>29391118
it is literally cheaper to buy something in 9x19mm now days than anything else. The days of 9x18mak and cheap ammo are long gone.

Your best bet right now is a Italian trade-in Beretta 92. It has a heel mag release, but its only $329 for a EXC condition one.

Topping that, you can get a glock17/19 trade in for roughly $350-425. Honestly, I would get a better condition glock for around $450, or a brand new threaded G19 for ~$545

A milsurp unissued Bulgy mak runs about $325, but 9x18 is like 10cpr more than regular 9x19mm now days.

I switch between carrying my DE1911U (pictured before) and keeping my Taurus PT111 as a truck gun.
>inb4 Shitaurus
>>
>>29391118
My answer changes depending if you're asking for a carry gun or not.

If yes:

SCCY CPX2, EAA Witness (I carry this), Makarov. I'd hedge my bets with a taurus model 85 too, but I don't really like revolvers in general.

For a carry gun, avoid the Tokarev. No safety, and not designed to carry cocked and locked + no viable defense ammo -- 7.62x25 is too hot to run as defense ammo. Too much over penetration...kills bystanders, and your court case.

>>29393111
These are too big to carry unless you wear a nigger tier white tee. Also, they're unreliable, be damned all the shills who say otherwise.

Mine almost caused me to fail my last armed security qual due to stoppages during courses of fire, so I don't even trust it as a range gun. Fuck this gay niggerblaster.
>>
I bought the Ruger American Pistol a couple days ago, and I'm really digging it.
>>
I was checking out a CZ P-09. They seem to be priced at around 400 in like new condition used. It would be mostly a car gun as I don't have my CC permit yet, but I'd eventually want it to be a carry gun as well.
I'm not entirely opposed to revolvers, but I'm leaning away from them.

Not him but I carry the pt111g2 everywhere. All I've found is one mag won't feed the first round if it's a hollow when it was new. Carried the pt145 before this and I love it.
>>
Welp. I bought a SAM 1911 Military at a gunshow today. Used, no idea how many rounds through it, picked it up for $379. Complete impulse buy, since I know next to nothing on the brand.

Did I fuck up?

I have a CC (ruger lc9), and now I want a range toy, preferebly something a little less snappy.
I've been thinking of either a Romanian Tokarev, or a Bulgarian Mak. And by that, I mean I'm going to get them both at some point regardless, but for the purposes of just punching holes in paper, which would be better?

I'm also considering picking up a Star Model B, but I've heard they're extremely shit and prone to become jars of preserved fruit. Any input on those?

Just as long as it shoots well enough and that you've made sure that there aren't any cracks, pitting, etc. You can always save up for another 1911 in the future.

Pic related, I bought it at a gun show out of impulse because I wanted a 1911, and just like in your case, I had no idea of the brand. It's a Firestorm 1911 in case you're wondering.

Anyway, I love the PT111 G2. It's a tack driver on the range, extremely affordable, very comfortable in the hand. I personally enjoy having the external thumb safety because I carry hot. Durable so it does well as a truck gun and everyday carry. 8/10 would recommend.

We need an infographicfag to make a poorfag pistol chart.

>Police trade in anything
>Smith auto's
>Secondhand Sig's, HK's,

300$-500$USD Is a good Poorfag budget right?
>>
>>29400286
I'd say 500 is normalfag range. That's right around where a new pistol from Smith, Springfield, or Glock will start.

I'd say poorfag budgeting is more like 250 (Millenium G2, SCCY) to 400 (CZ clones, police trade-ins, Ruger and S&W budget line, Canik, etc).
>>
>>29397781
>$600 is expensive for a pistol

OP here. I'm thinking 500 to 600 is top out of poorfag range.
I was considering the 92FS. It's at the top of my price range though. The way I see it, it's worth it to step a bit out of budget (currently floating around 500, but it can be higher) for a better quality weapon.
>>
>>29400286
I'd say $80 - $200 (maybe $250) is poorfag range.

Op, if you're lookinbg fo a full size, just buy an astra.

You're getting a sig for half the price.

If you want a 92fs, they can easily be found in the 400 dollar range.

Mine was 450 for a model f compact. Less after I traded my Astra in.

Juts look around. Any shop wort its weight in shit will have used Beretta 92s in stock is perfectly good shape.

Any 1911 can be made to run. The cheaper ones are less likely to be g2g out of the box, expect spring changes or extractor tuning etc. Never heard of that one, but it looks neat.
>>
>>29400553
The thread is SPECIFICALLY about inexpensive handguns, shitlord. An italian roadster is not the answer to a question about an affordable, reliable daily driver.

>>
>>29402182
Trade ins from what? Italian police? Military? Will these run like new or like the US military M9s?
>>
>>29402859
I think Italian police. Some cops in Yuroland.
They should run decently. Personally I would spring for a nicer grade. An extra couple of bucks for something 'like new'? fuck it, skip a few lunches.
Anything but the most clapped out 92 series (and I'm talking >100k rounds, to the point where the rails are gone and consistent lockup is impossible) can be revived as a decent shooter with a fresh locking block and recoil spring.
>>
>>29402840

Bear in mind, these will be great looking guns and are a great deal and all but the sights DO suck and can't be changed, so maybe this particular deal isn't ideal for a -first- gun.
>>
>>29393442
Taurus a shit
>>
>>29403029
The sights re fine. Pretty standard for a handgun and plenty usable inside 25 yards..
And you can have the sights changed at any smith,, or send the slide off to have them replaced for ~$40.

For Home Defense or a Target gun; look for a used Smith and Wesson 5906.

You can find used Smith and Wesson 5906s for around $350 and they're excellent full size 9mms, they have really good triggers and they're stainless steel DA/SA with a 15 round capacity. The downside is that they're big and heavy; but for a target gun or home defense gun that's not an issue.

For conceal carry look at a Ruger LCR or LCP Custom.

Ruger LCR or LCP Custom are both around $300 and they're both very nice, small and light conceal carry guns. If you get the LCP spend the extra money for the custom because the trigger on the regular one is shit.

Or if you want Mil surp get a Makarov, they're solid Soviet surplus sidearms that are small enough for conceal carry and can be had for sub $300.

Yep, both solid guns. Had 8000 and 8045 compact. The finish on the stoeger wasn't great and dropping a cartridge on it would leave a mark on it so it's cz tier. However the machine and fit on both was good. The compact balanced like ass and it was pretty bad without a grip extension but both good shooters. Trigger and sights we're both good enough. For the 9mm you can modify 92fs mags by cutting a new mag catch. Don't go looking for specific holsters though.

MKIII is the current gen of them and I agree its a great .22lr target pistol.

I'd recommend the 22/45 since it has a more conventional grip and get either the target model with the bull barrel which basically has no recoil and is very accurate or the LITE which is smaller lighter and has a threaded barrel in case you want to put a suppressor on it.

Only word of caution is that they are kind of a pain to strip down when you want to thoroughly clean them, mainly because getting the bolt pin in and out is irritating. That said there is a $50 speed strip kit you can buy that makes breaking it down a breeze (you just unscrew the bolt pin with an allen wrench). I just wish Ruger would just add an allen wrench lug on top of the bolt pin themselves because its such a slight modification and it takes all the pain out of disassembly.

S&w svd9
Ruger 9e
FNS9 (this is a great gun yet manages to still be decently priced)
Used glock
Used CZ

Stay away from sccy if you're looking for a cheap carry gun. The reviewers are shills. Hi points also suck, no they're not reliable and again the reviewers are shills (they can afford to send free guns to them). Makarovs are ok, but the caliber, capacity, and weight suck.

Will the heel release work with regular beretta 92 mags?

depending on the mag, you may have to cut a notch into the mag body.

Hi Points are extremely reliable. They're heavy and fuckugly but they absolutely work. This is well documented by everyone who has ever actually owned one. For shits and giggles I took one through a Tactical Response course and it ran 100%.

If you look around you can easily find S&W Shield for around $300 used. Great CC gun and very reliable. Although not best HD gun because of capacity.
