>paint it, put a suppressor on it, replace the grip and you have a 9/10

I should have my SWR Specwar 556 early next month as my check was cashed March 9.

I prefer the Tango Down grip as it's what I used in a past life and it's what I'm use to. I have a Magpul K2 with the lube bottle insert but I can't get into the ergos -- my right hand has been broken four times and I need something more substantial to get good purchase because arthritis at 28 sucks.

I'll have my 10.3" back soon with the Geissele 9.5" Mk4 in DDC.

It's safer to buy a non-FA lpk, the ATF can be dicks.

Generally its better to NOT fuck around with the ATF on F/A shit, because they actually do prosecute poor bastards from time to time for F/A constructive intent.

i know. before i started this build i didnt know that kac rail covers wouldnt fit this rail. didnt know that i should have gotten a 14.5 pinned barrel, either.

i really dont feel like spending more money to replace the barrel and rail so im just leaving it as is. i thought after my first build that i replaced every single part except the buffer tube, trigger group and pins, upper and barrel id learn to research better before building.

FA BCG's are just how it's cut, most people use FA BCGs.

While it /might/ be ok to have one or two parts, it's definitely safer to just not have them at all.

It seems fuck ed up that this is possibly illegal. How far does the line get pushed in the paronoid direction before having parts separate to two rifles in the same place is dangerous.

Barrel nuts can be shared across handguards for the most part. There are some like the Noveske NSR which screw into the barrel nut with hex screws that are compatible only with the proprietary nut. Some handguards also do not fit with the mil spec barrel nut due to the ridges. If your barrel nut is smooth with nothing on the sides, it should be compatible with most handguards.

I figured, but I wanted a solution that didn't involve pulling the barrel.

The milling was all done with a 7/16 end mill, like 1.75" flutes. I actually got a cobalt one just for doing this, about 16 bucks at my local tooling shop.

I started by removing most of the material with a half inch drill then plunged with the end mill moving .050 at a time until I could just side mill for a finish pass.

Parallels are def the way to go, and yea make sure you indicate square before you start cutting. Thanks for the compliment, I'm happy with the outcome for sure.

I've got handguns in .40 already so it would have ammo compatibility. It just seems like it would be a neat home defense rifle. 30+ rounds of hollow point .40 with higher velocity from a longer barrel than a typical pistol. Throw a light and laser or eotech on it and it'd be a little easier to keep on target when the adrenaline is pumping and things are happening fast.

are surefire muzzle brakes that good? or are you paying for the name and qd capabilities.

If anyone is interested, there's a really easy way to use a CAA SST1 with the KAK Shockwave that does the following:

>creates stable cheekweld surface
>leaves KAK and SST1 and all hardware unmodified in any way
>leaves blade brace and strap slots unobstructed and available for intended use

It's real simple guys, you just put the KEK on backwards and run a zip tie through the little holes by the storage compartments and through the mid strap hole in the KAK to create clamping tension.

Nice cheekweld, you can still stabilize with off-hand, and it doesn't create any additional surface area on the back of the blade, so there's no reason you would ever use it incorrectly by shouldering it.

>>
>>30648631
they work pretty well desu, it's dead simple and doesn't take that long at all. i used a trailer hitch vice mount and it still came out functional. because of the awkward setup i had though i had a hard time drilling straight so the selector and trigger holes on mine are a little blown out at the "top", but still function just fine. also there was a little too much material on the front of the pocket and my hammer rubbed but a dremel fixed that no problem. not sure why that happened, but wasnt a big deal.

The 1/2 inch drill I hit 4 places inline. (Pic related) the 5th hole is 3/8 and a little offset, connects to the rear takedown pin pocket.

I then plunged with the 7/16 leaving .010 in the walls all the way around, but yea, I did it at .050 intervals, I forget the depth off hand, but I pretty much went to full depth each plunge.

And then yea, just side milled for the finish passes, make sure to take multiple spring passes, as you'd be surprised how much deflection happens.

To help with a slow approach don't fully lock the axis you're moving on, instead allow it to 'drag' so you ensure you don't run pat the point and take more material than you want.

So a couple questions for you AR folks. I bought a stripped lower. The 4473 was filled out "Other" (Receiver). If I were to make a pistol out of this receiver, I am free to do so. Later on, I am legally allowed to convert it into a rifle. Correct? However, if I were to build it into a rifle first, I am SOL on building into a pistol later?

My question is, who, how would be able to determine if I was to rifle->pistol instead pistol->rifle the gun?

Secondly, If I own another completed rifle length AR15 and build a pistol upper, am I required to pin/weld the muzzle device for fear of it being labeled constructive intent?

So long as you have a rifle length upper for the second AR it's fine.

iirc you can have multiple pistol uppers and one rifle upper while only owning a single pistol lower and a single rifle lower and it's fine.

You don't have to buy gucci you know. I'd be more impressed with someone buying smart on a limited budget than some tripfag who cashed in all his good boy points on a $1500 complete pre-assembled upper.
>>
>>30650385
True. And I'm not going for a pre-made upper. I'm talking about just the upper receiver, no barrel, bolt, handguard, or gas system. I'm doing this piece by piece to make sure I do it right and the way I want it. Especially since I want an 18" barrel, and pre-assembled 18" uppers are stupid expensive.
>>
>>30650406
Gun shows are shit shows
If you want to waste $10 on the off chance that you MIGHT find something there, go for it
it also depends entirely on where you live
>>
>>30650406
Got ya.

Biggest thing is don't cheap out on the barrel. Buy a good barrel, not some Croation pot metal job.

Any Anchor Harvey forged upper receiver should not be expensive. IIRC Aero, BCM, Smith & Wesson and who knows how many others all use AH.
>>
>>30650459
I've already got an Anderson spiral-fluted HB written down for what I'm going to use. Anderson barrels seem to be highly praised, and come at a pretty good price point, only about as much money as the upper receiver. Did I do good for my pick? Not really

Just picked up a Bushmaster Carbon 15. Took it too the range and got dressed down by an AR lord with some legit custom ARs. Nice enough to let me shoot and give advice, but basically told me my new gun is shit.

And a new grip and trigger guard. Rail covers too. Good start though, seriously.

>>30648673
Is that the SF battlecomp? How do you like it?

>>30649398
Wow. 8/10.

>>30649704
Lol.

>>30649935
Yeah build it into a pistol first, not that it matters much.

Warcomp vs SFMB? Which do you like better.

I've heard the Warcomp can cause bullet instability and fucks with accuracy at longer ranges.

>>30651018

SFMB. For the reasons you mentioned plus I think it looks better
>>
Hey guys /newgunz/ here I don't have any rifles but I want one. I wanted an sks or an AK because IM poorfag but I got talked out of it because apparently quality control is a problem with them

Anyways guess I'm getting an AR then. What should I get? I don't know about building and I don't know about a DPMS.

Is the M&P sport good or is it a scrub gun? I would kind of like a dust cover for the oper8r factor.

I'd like to spend like less than $800 all said and done
