Post your current home defense shotgun that you have ready at the drop of a hat.

OP here, although this shotgun has the 20" barrel, I feel the 2 extra shells will make a difference in a HD defense situation. /k/ agrees?
>>
>>30639031
I don't think there will ever be a situation where you'll think you have too much ammo

My ideal HD shotgun would be a 20 gauge O/U SBS with an unaltered stock like top pic. Compact and maneuverable and unfuckupable action. Maybe one day I'll go through all the NFA paperwork and tax bullshit to actually acquire one. Load it with #4 buckshot and gtg.

Why is a shotgun bad? I'd prefer a rifle because idgaf about penetration but a shotgun will do just fine.
>>

Is there something wrong with me if I want one of these but with a single tube and single barrel?

I mean I understand that you have the option of more ammo, but it just seems like more hassle and too complicated and adds cost to something that I find personally unnecessary.
>>
I don't have a picture of it atm.

IAC hawk 982 12g (Chinese 870)

Sling added plus 4 round side saddle and 5 round stock sleeve.

5 in the tube makes 14 total. I keep the chamber empty and the safety off so just have to rack it and pull the trigger.

Gun is heavy as fuck. Solid steel. I like it that way. Makes it easy to use as a club and keeps recoil low. All rounds are pdx1 duplex shells.

The pardner and 982 are literally the same gun sold by different companies. Your gun is exactly like mine except mine has ghost rings.

I really have nothing bad to say about it. My dad gave it to me as my first firearm. Has never jammed. Action is smooth if a little loud. Handles 3 inch mag just fine. Excellent gun considering is from commie town.

Does anyone know if this will work? Combining recoil pads with more recoil pads? Im 6'5 so the additional length is no problem.

Also what does "LOP" mean in terms of recoil pads? They are throwing these acronyms around like everyone is already supposed to know this stuff. "Length of pull" maybe? What does that mean?

The only issue is that if you have enough recoil pads eventually you'll have negative recoil and you'll have to prevent the gun from recoiling forward.

Move to Canada. If it's:

then we don't give a fuck. About $180 maplebucks for turkshit, more if you want better quality.

They do. I posted mine above with the Hornady buckshot. First time I took it out a couple years ago I had multiple failures to extract. Also, when I took off the factory stock to replace it with the magpul one I found rust on the back of the receiver where you screw in the stock bolt, which is surprising considering the gun has spent most of its life in my bedroom. I believe quality went down when Remington was bought by Freedom Group in I think 2007.
>>
>>30643910

I had no failures when shooting it this week. Haven't put too much through it yet so we'll see.

Thinking about changing the stock to something adjustable so we'll see if I'm all rusted up.
>>
>>30643910
I had failures to extract as well. It's basically inexcusable in a pump; their QC is so shitty that there's literally burrs on the inside of the chamber that prevent extraction after the shell is fired/the shell expands a little.

My 870 is fully coated in factory camo so it doesn't rust but my 597 rusts like a motherfucker. I love the guns but yeah a little QC/effort would be amazing.

>>
>>30643536
You are correct, LOP = Length of Pull.

You could stack recoil pads but I'd worry about durability and stability. One technique I've heard of for rifles but have not tried on shotguns is to push the gun forward with your support hand while pulling with your trigger hand instead of just pulling into you shoulder. It sounds retarded but some people swear by it.
>>
>>30643606
Okay, you're right. I want it purely for cool factor. It's at once nostalgically fuddy and urban gangster at the same time.
>>
>>30644126
- Additional manufacturing costs.
- Additional point of failure.
- Tubazines are heavy and awkward compared to loose ammo which can be stored on a belt.
- Not THAT much faster than topping up during lulls in fighting.
- Inability to load secondary ammo types on the fly without dropping whole tube.

I think they are neat but it's a solution in search of a problem.

I have an AR-15 and I'd still prefer my shotgun for any HD scenario. 9 copper plated pellets of 00buck, with 7 round capacity = 63 rounds total.

Also i have a new remington 870, tactical like >>30643484, minus the shitty XS Ghost ring. I've never had a single problem and i have like 2000 rounds through this damn gun. Might be because i immediately swapped out the extractor with a machined one ($15), and wapped the trigger group with the 870Police ($100). No rust, no issues whatsoever, ever.

Not the original guy who you're replying to, but umm you never shot a shotgun in real life have you? Buckshot is effective at 100yards, slugs you can get away with 300yards if you are good. Also, buckshot to an unarmored target is more devestating than any rifle under .50bmg.
>>
>>30644704
Okay someone is outside your house. Unless their breaking in to vehicles or stealing stuff (which means they probably pretty fucking close to your house) there is no need to do anything besides call the police and watch them. If they are stealing stuff they are probably close enough to the house for a rifle not to matter

Breathing in any kind of ash (tobacco, marijuana, firewood, coal, whatever) is hard on the lungs because it mixes with natural moisture present and forms an acidic paste. It also clogs the tiny alveoli that absorb oxygen.

Severe lung damage is not 100% guaranteed to cause cancer but it usually does, along with a host of other nasty, chronic conditions.

Not really. Most likely will be in very tight quarters given my house setup... a long gun can very easily get wrestled away or grabbed. You aren't grabbing my glock without eating a few rounds first.

Additionally, If a gun could get wrestled away and I had to choose a long gun, then I'm going to chose the one that will make the biggest hole if only one shot hits the target.

It's nice because you can have a bunch in standard AR mag pouches, when one runs dry you can yank it off and slap a fresh one on. It's relatively slow compared to a proper shotshell carrier though.
>>
>>30648863
>>30648866

here's the one I got from SOE, I got it when they were only $15, now $20, still considerably worth it compared to the other options

I have shot over 250 rounds (mostly birdshot) with it on with shells in it and not once did it budge

side saddles arent meant for normal reloads, they should be used for emergency reloads only to get another shell in the gun as fast as possible when your dry

Well yeah, assuming you're all decked-out in battle-rattle. If not the side-saddle is just as likely to be all the spare ammo you have.

I have 18-24 rounds on my PC, two 16 round panels on an FLC, 12 rounds on the duty belt, another 12 on a bandoleer and often have loose rounds in a canteen pouch as well. I don't carry all of that at once of course, that'd be heavy. But having options is nice.

O/u are hard to cut down with a vented rib.

You need to at the very least resolder the rib. And reblue the barrels.

Oh, I see youre implying things now.

I have shot many a shotgun. That's not the question you asked me. Is your argument that shotguns don't have more flash and a louder report than a AR?
>>
>>30649502
A SBS will not blind nor deafen you.
Also, a standard shotgun is noticeably more quiet than a standard AR. Look up the decibel levels yourself.
>>
>>30649523
No, 12g is 160ish db AR is 150ish dB. I'm sure you can find any number to support either argument throughout the whole of Google.

But it's okay, I'm allowed to not like what you like. You dont need to take it personally.

Just go ahead and write everyone who clears houses for a living that they are doing it wrong because you feel like a shotgun is the better weapon. Also mention that all youll have to do is rack the slide to make Jamal leave anyway.
