I did, using a metal cutting wheel on a Dremel, and a very steady hand. It fits perfectly, and still inccredibly strong even without the anti-rotation tabs. I hammered on the side of my AFG a couple times seeing if it would rotate the rail, but nope!
I would recommend first trying to cut off just enough, before just completely filing them off.
Take it to a Gunsmith if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself.

What's a good place to start? I'd prefer to go with an 80% lower, and do it relatively cheaply. I looked up some videos of people drilling some lowers out with hand drills and routers, so it doesn't seem terribly hard, just time consuming - but I'm not really sure what to look out for when finding compatible parts, or what is considered a decent price.

Just bought some Troy battlemags for my AR. Haven't taken them out yet, but right off the bat, compared to Magpul Gen 2 and Gen 3 mags, they are harder to seat, lighter, feel flimsier and are easier to load.
