This...is a weird thread.
>>
I've never been involved with hunting, but was expecting a little more... I dunno, reverence, in those moments, snuffing something's life out for food? Not like this giddy schoolgirl laughter. Maybe I'm just a faggot.
>>
Why do hunters, especially on TV shows and YouTube channels, always want to be quite after the shot? You hit the animal. It is dead or will be dead soon. You are done for the day. Who give a fuck if you are a little loud for a minute or two. Unless you are trying to lure more animals in, like coyotes or pigs, who give a fuck?
>>
>>30629221

>>
>>30629221
>Who give a fuck if you are a little loud for a minute or two.
Game will die peacefully where it is if left alone. If you spook it by going up to it too soon or, I don't know, being a loud faggot, it will probably take off with a last shot of adrenaline. This means more time spent tracking and less time spent not tracking. Tracking can suck ass.

Source: I've actually been hunting before.
>>
>>30629246
I am not talking about sperging out and running up to the animal or anything. But there is absolutely no need to whisper after you have taken the shot and the animal has taken off. Absolutely none. You can talk in a normal tone of voice at that point.
>>
>>30629199
man what a roller coaster this one is https://youtu.be/RpptwNqNuZU
>>
>>30629207
Nah, I'm with you. This is lame.
>>
>>30629207
Our ancestors probably hunted and killed by the boat load, I really doubt most of them would show "reverence" for every animal killed. Maybe as religions developed, they did, but in the end of the day, it's one animal killing another.

And while everyone seems to love the romantic daydream that our species has developed to the point where we need to show respect and do a spirit dance and enter a 5 hour prayer or some shit for killing an animal, outside of feeling good about ourselves for killing an animal, there's really no other fucking reason other than to try and appease whatever sky deity into thinking we're not murderous psychopaths and we shouldn't be struck by lightening.
>>
>>30629207
I'm not like this when I kill. Then again, I'm not a retarded female.
>>
>>30629293
No. You just let it die quietly cause its last moments should be its own. That's what reverence means in hunting -- respect. What are you even talking about this spirit dance prayer bullshit.

I've never been a hunter. Only target shooting. My father was never into guns. So when I turned 21 I bought my first pistol. I'm 26 now and still never went hunting. I think I'd like to, but I just think it's something that needs to be bred into you at a young age.
>>
>>30629293
Are you a sociopath?
>>
>>30629466

I know this is hard for millennial babies like you to understand, but normal people don't feel bad about killing some walking food.
It's natural for us to kill to eat.

Watching all that disney-ass kiddy shit where barnyard animals have feelings and crap, along with the other muh feelings shit they teach you, has perverted your mind.

Very few animals have real emotions, and none of them are ones we normally hunt for food.
>>
>>30629418

If you're a pussy, yes.
If you can kill an animal without a second thought like everyone else for the past 200,000+ years, then no.
>>
>>30629518
>Very few animals have real emotions, and none of them are ones we normally hunt for food.
This is remarkably misguided. I'm not the guy you're replying to or even against killing animals, but this is incorrect.

Of course dogs get fucking happy and basic shit like that.

Because that's fucking retarded.

>>I see, the "real" emotions are the ones that animals you on't kill feel. How objective.
Once again, you fail to fucking read my post.

>Very few animals have real emotions

Brown bears for example can experience depression much like a human can. They're smart as fuck.
Deer don't get depressed. Sad, sure. But depression is an entirely different level, or so I understand.

Having reverence for other living things is natural.
Yes, its natural for us to kill to eat, meat is delicious, tasty murder.
>>
>>30629587
I think you've demonstrated very clearly that you do not understand.

Stop while you're not ahead.
>>
>>30629587
You're dodging the thread topic entirely. Are you saying you giggle uncontrollably like an immature young girl when you (hypothetically, since you don't hunt) kill something? Rather than just stay calm and collect your kill like a normal person? If what the animal is or is not experiencing is irrelevant to you, is it then just a matter of your own immaturity as a human being that you'd act this way?
>>
>>30629598

>Having reverence for other living things is natural.
Nope.
Believe it or not, but the way you think isn't the same way humans in the wild think.
You
fucking
moron

You know how early humans in africa used to hunt?
You'd spot an animal out on the plains and just walk towards it.
Eventually, it notices you getting too close, and it runs off.
You keep walking after it, keeping it in sight.
Eventually, it gets distance from you and stops.
After a while you catch up and it runs off.
And you do this over and over, all day if you have to.
Until the animal is so tired from running that it can't move.
You know what you do then?
You sit on its fucking chest and suffocate it to death.
Does that sound like a hunter that gives a shit about its prey?
>>
>>30629587
>>30629558
>>30629518

This is fucking stupid. You could have said something like "deer do not feel long term emotions and that justifies my callousness towards their species specifically because (insert stupid reason). Instead, you just tack on ad hoc auxiliaries to create a definition for "real" which does not exist.

Cite the part that says the hunter feels contempt for his prey or believes it's a soulless automaton. As that is your argument.
>>
>>30629644

Nah, you can kill bears.
They're just higher orders of life than deer.
I could understand feeling a bit bad about killing a bear.
>>
>>30629635
>If I thought you autists would accuse me of not knowing that dogs can be happy, I would have.
Nobody did. You just refuse to accept that your definition of emotional intelligence is arbitrary and baseless. There is no real (in the sense of the actual definition) reason for your approach to callous hunting.
>>
>>30629652

>Cite the part that says the hunter feels contempt for his prey or believes it's a soulless automaton
How about I just cite the part where you put words in my mouth?

Soo that is...false. I'm implying that your definition of the "reality" of existing emotions is baseless, not on the difference of emotional intelligence between species. Differing levels or types of emotional intelligence has no bearing on the reality of said them.

>I wonder if she's just overwhelmed with emotion.

I do not for a second believe she is psychotic, unhinged, or sociopathic. Also, I do not believe there is anything immoral about what she has done, as I believe hunting is the natural right of all humanity, whether for sport or survival.

She is probably just excited based in and around the experience that she has been raised to enjoy, which is the simplest explanation there is, and there is nothing wrong with that at all.

Just, based on how I was raised, and the way that I am ordered... I just suppose that it is not in my nature to not only hunt for sport, but I completely lack any capacity to enjoy the experience at all. It provokes no excitement in me whatsoever. My heart hurts like... when you watch a movie and there is a scene where a male character is beating the tar out of his wife for no reason... that... anger... sympathy... need to protect... it just rises in me and strips away any possibility of enjoyment. It is just how I am wired.

That is not to say that my subjective response proves anything, as there is nothing wrong with hunting. All I am saying is that I, in my own life, could never hunt outside of a survival/necessity scenario... and even then I would not be able to enjoy it.
>>

There is actually. Animals don't always run from loud noises. Meaning if there is another one close by, it may stay in the area and you can get another chance at shooting another. I'm sure there are videos of people missing and the animal staying still for a follow up shot.

Not that guy, but I think I know what he's talking about.

There's this scale, on the one side, there are single celled creatures, on the other side, people. Between them are bears, corvids, deer, lizards, republicans, and so on..

The further up you go the scale, the more intelligent and capable of complex emotion you get. With that comes sympathy and even empathy with these various critters that we're mostly allowed to shoot in the face.
>>
>>30630185
Unfortunately this is nothing new. Pretty much every hunting thread ever on /k/ has been like this. The only thing we're really missing are the "if you don't use every part of the animal you are hitler" people.
>>
>>30630087

I feel you /k/omrade... What the fuck happened...

As to explaining the video.

When you kill something, you get an adrenaline dump of different levels depending on what it is.
This is also different for everyone, some are overwhelmed with laughter and joy, some cry.
You also get used to it the more you do it, obviously.

For me, medium to big game give me a sense of pride, meat for the family for a year at least. This use to overwhelm me with joy hunting as a teenager.

Now for those of you who were to young or to chicken shit to fight in the last decade+ of war, killing a human gives you the same adrenaline dump, without the pride, and the first time is followed by throwing up, and maybe shitting your pants.

You are retarded guy. Deer will die peacefully and quickly with a clean shot. Attempting to chase it down after it initially runs off would only make the animal run further and fight back. Would you rather its last moments be quiet and peaceful or filled with terror?

git gud faggot.

I've never had a deer run more than a few steps after shooting, the only time I didn't cleanly kill a game animal was while turkey hunting, but I quickly ran up to the floundering bird and stomped its neck until it stopped moving. It wasn't very fun, but it was necessary. The last thing I want is an animal to be able to flee and end up dying in a ditch while I have no meat to put on the table.

Fuck roosters in particular.

It's her first kill. She's high on an adrenal rush.

Although personally, I'd wait until I was sure the deer was dead before celebrating. And I'd aim to make it a clean kill; letting the prey suffer is just bad form.

Anyone who cheers after killing an animal does not have respect for that animal or the act they just committed. I would expect most kids today who grew up on video games to do sir like this because it's just a target to them.

Replace anyone with adults and i agree, but kids have a right to get excited because hunting can be hard.

It's good to celebrate the accomplishment of learning a skill to a point where it puts food on the table. I would get that excited if i could successfully grow a garden that could feed me or catching a big ass fish.

do you not get a boner after a kill?
>>
>>30629598
You realize treating things humanely is literally a human invention, right? Compassion is not something other predators have the capacity for, not for prey. Birds of prey eat their kills asshole first, lions eat babies mid birthing process, crocodiles rip seams in zebras and snatch up the insides that fall out as the animal eviscerates itself in fright.

We are by far the kindest, most respectful predator on earth, so quit fucking bitching when someone is happy they got a clean kill.
>>
>>30629293
They actually did.
>>
>>30637964
You're right, we are just animals and we should follow our instincts. I'll remember that next time another guy corrects me and I want to fight him, or when I'm horny and I see an attractive woman who doesn't want to have sex, or when I dislike someone just because they are different.

I bet that will work out well. Don't post that bullshit when the fact that your computer and keyboard exist solely because people started rising above their instincts.

I'm pro-hunting. The challenge is fun and the meat is the healthiest you can get usually. But don't kill something and then treat it like you got a half-court basket. The people who stand over dead humans and cheer we call psychos and sociopaths.

Some of the worst genocides in history usually start by someone saying *insert group* are not people, their basically animals or savages. It's completely fine to kill them.

> INB4 calling me a hippy, I've killed dozens of animals.
>>
>>30639533
>You're right, we are just animals and we should follow our instincts.
I literally never said that you vapid cunt. You're the one trying to pass off man made behavior as natural, when it isn't by definition. You can't even keep track of what you're arguing. I don't give a shit about the challenge or how you feel about hunting. This has nothing to do with genocide.
You're an absolute fucking moron.

With hunting deer, it's a little bit of respect. You thank the Lord for allowing you to make such a good shot, and then wait to give the animal a while to die relatively peacefully.

I feel you. Getting excited about making a difficult shot, completing a hunt, and making a kill are all okay. It's alright to be happy when you manage to pull off something that's challenging, especially something that has a real reward, like the meat and antlers of a buck. I dont know enough philsophically to speak on the matter of the ideological motivation of killing for sport, but if you use the animal and eat the meat then hey, thats my definition of respect. And ill respect the shit outta some venison jerky.

Ive hunted my entire life. There was a time (age 17-20) where 100% of the meat I ate was from hunting and fishing, without a license or tagging of course because I needed food and lived at the border of national forest. Hunting, fishing, and trapping was a significant source of calories. Now to the point; these girls are legit psycopaths. Come at me with an ama if you dontunderstand, Im waiting.

>>30641717
Of course he is, are you fucking shitting me? Zero sympathy for killing. Theres a difference between killing for food and killing for fun or a trophy. And this insane giggling reaction where he (and the girls) are overcome with emotion. Ive never seen a first kill reactuon (or any kill) like this and Ive taken a lot of people hunting. You'll get some 'hooray I can shoot' straight type shit but not this drug out 'five minute killing orgasm shit.'
>>
>>30641760
I'm pretty sure they have sympathy for the animal but just not as much for this particular animal as they do for humans, cats or dogs. I'm not sure you can classify them as psychopaths for killing a deer and laughing about it in the moment.
>>
>>30641767
Laughing about killing is a symptom of being a psycopath. Theyre probably mean to small animals too.

I highly doubt that, laughing about suffering is a symptom of psychopathy but these girls didn't see the animal suffer. They just saw an arrow hit and the deer run, what's making them laugh in that moment is the pride, adrenaline and that it finally paid off to get up in the morning and go out and wait for several hours in the woods.
>>
>>30641695
Have to agree, nothing wrong with hunting and being happy, but out right laughing for several minutes?

Why are you so bent out of shape over people enjoying the thrill of the hunt? Humans are predators and have been hunting for tens of thousands of years, the reaction is as natural as a dog wagging its tail after nabbing a squirrel. Your extension of empathy towards dumb grazing herbivores that don't fucking matter is a symptom of detachment from the food chain that you nonetheless actively participate in by consuming meat.

Do you also get mad when people enjoy reeling in a fish?
>>
