Alright /k/, I thought up an incredibly small semi auto shotgun(probably a saiga pattern) purpose built to fire pic related. Any ideas or input?
>>30626127
Make it for less than $500 otherwise no one will buy it.
OP here think pic related but even smaller, with neat features and afformentioned chambering
why not a handgun that shoots minishells?
>>30626207
stupidly wide grip, the shells are shorter but still 12guage diameter plus off balance with a drum,
>>30626127
They already do that. Its more of a european thing though. It allows for an incredibly short action in their pump action shotguns. My uncle actually has one, though I've yet to see it in person.

Hate to break it to you, but that's an AOW under the NFA. Guns like the Judge only get away with using shot shells because the gun is technically chambered in .45 Colt but with an extra long cylinder that "just happens" to fit .410 shot shells.
>add gas piston, done

nice dubs, yeah I know but lets try suspension of disbelief for this
>>30626127
The issue is that if they're 12ga they're still going to be wide so you won't have nay higher capacity. The gun would still be wide, it would just have a skinnier mag front-to-back.
buuut maybe you could give it a tandem magazine. It would nearly double capacity.
Now if you used a tube gun then you could get something like am SNS or a non-NFA 14.5" PGO shotgun. The short shells would make up for the shortish tube.
They're weak as shit and inefficient for their size.
If your design is going to be compact with a short barrel then there are handguns that are more powerful than it. With a larger gun you could use rifle rounds that carry 2x more energy and weigh less.

Mmm, that shotty gives me the wiggle dick
>>30626299
Don't be ridiculous. It's not chambered for 12ga mini shells, it's chambered for our custom wildcat .45 Short Colt that happens to be the same length!

My dreams of a bolt pistol have come true.
>tfw providing judgement to heretics for the glory of the emperor

Every Saiga i've used has required the highest velocity shells or else it will jam and fail to cycle properly, even with custom gas plugs.
That being said, I doubt something like this would ever work properly in a Saiga shotgun.
Maybe if you could do a Saiga Krinkov mutant or some shit you might have a chance. Otherwise something like >>30626364
looks more practical.
>>30629952
Really? My shitty Century Fury cycles even #8 birdshot without problems (I shoot trap with it sometimes)
I've wanted to upgrade to a Saiga 12 for a while b/c this thing is made from aluminum foil and I'm sure it will blow up in my face at some point... but not at the cost of reliability
>>30629992
Honestly, again, I was astounded by the low quality of an Izhmash Saiga shotgun. My buddy has an airsoft AK-74 and the safety on his airsoft gun feels almost identical to the safety on the Saigas I've used. All around, it feels like a cheap ass rifle. It makes my WASR feel like a quality, expensive firearm.
It's a fun toy, but that's about all i'd leave it at.
>>30629952
Should have got a vepr, where it just works out of the box..
>>30629992
>I've wanted to upgrade to a Saiga 12
so you can upgrade to a vepr next when that thing inevitably pisses you off?
>>30630790
Detachable mag fed shotguns are still a meme, every Saiga i've shot has belonged to a friend.
I'll pass on ownership for now.
>>30629952
After much trial and error I bought an MD arms booster puck and a reduced strength spring from CSS. For $30 it can now cycle sport loads reliably. I tried the same combo in another troubled Saiga 12 and it works as well.
There's also the TAC47 autoplug which automatically regulates gas between high & low brass shells, but it's not necessary.

>gun is a meme
oh, you're one of those people
your opinions have been swiftly discarded
>>30626306
This. I've always wanted something akin to the uzi (pistol grip magazine) but with mini 12 gauge. Too bad it would be a destructive device because of caliber, or is it any other weapon? BATFE territory gets confusing.
>>30629952
My Saiga is pretty reliable with even Wichester AA and it's all factory gas system as long as I don't try to use it with drum mags.
