What is the most deadly commercial .223 round?
Trident/Ripout rounds?
Hornady Superformance 53gr rounds?

That FBI loading. Winchester sells it as ZQ3314, but other people sell it too. In terms of what it does to a body, it's probably the best. Makes big fat exit wounds.
>>
good fragmenting ammo like Mk 262
not the highly frangible varmint stuff though, that has very shallow penetration

Not enough good-old boys on here for much exposure to monolithic bullets. Great for hogs though.

I'd argue for the Speer Gold Dot 64gr. Nice jacketed soft point, decent accuracy, nice velocity.

Apparently they make a 75gr now too, but it's too new for there to be much ballistics on it yet.

Hornadys A-Max is pretty ugly. You can basically not use it for hunting because it pierces half a deer with fragments and is just too fast for the weak little jacket.

I shot two roe deer and six red foxes with the 223 A-Max, no pelt and only half of every deer was usable.

Magtech/CBC 77gr OTM is a nice cheaper alternative.

But the best round I have found so far is the Black Hills TMK 77 gr. Holy shit the round is awesome from SBR's and Full Size rfiles as well. You can get it in .223 or 556 Grade Ammo.

I really wish more companies made loads with Sierra's TMK bullets. I dig the 69 and 75gr SMK, but I just like polymer tips.

pics or im calling bullshit
>>
>>30631999
been meaning to ask someone if the terminal ballistics were any better on the TMK than the SMK

i'd been reading that the muzzle velocity was significantly lower, from having to pack less powder because of longer projo(??)
>>
>>30632024
The TMK's are Fantastic. You can't go wrong.

>>30632179
The TB's are exceptionally better. I Carry the 77's in my SPR(18") Build and 69's in my SBR (12") Both are exceptionally better with the TMK's. if I have to use OTM's I use the CBC(nosler/SMK variable bullet) stuff because its just as potent. I prefer to use the TMK's when ever i can.

oh fuck yes

this news is good enough i would be afraid of black hills shilling on /k/, if that weren't crazy just for there being enough poorfags here that there would be no return on their investment of time

where are you FINDING it? google was beating my ass the other day

I train with 77 otm's because they are cheaper but the SHTF/Duty mag's are all TMK's.

69gr
http://www.selwayarmory.com/black-hills-5-56x45mm-nato-69-gr-sierra-tipped-matchking-box-of-50.html#specifications

77gr
http://www.ableammo.com/catalog/black-hills-factory-rifle-ammunition-556n19-556mm-nato-sierra-tipped-matchking-2750-rdbx-p-141137.html?utm_source=ammoseek&utm_medium=feed&utm_term=ammo&utm_campaign=ammoseek

Surprisingly Cabella's has a good stock of the 77gr in store over here.

I have a hell of a time getting a good load with the Barnes projectiles. Their weird length to weight ratio messes with my typical OAL

Bottom gel test is typical for 69/75gr BTHP. Good penetration first, followed by fragmentation.

The middle is basically the same but designed for going through windshields.

I prefer the top because I also want something for Texas whitetail and hogs, but I still want a good wide wound channel with 12+" penetration.

Any of these is meets the FBI's duty requirement.
