So I'm going to start my first AR10/SR-25 build and I'd like some advice. Any suggestions on companies for lower receivers? especially ones that are in stock? Good barrels or parts kits that I should consider?

Give is a wooden stock and forgrip.
It would be sexy as fuck.
do your homework first.
saves money & time spent buying things you don't need.
getting exactly what you want.

I got a nice matched set of uppers from aero, pretty good quality. Get ready to drop some serious bucks for a quality build though.

If you actually go the armalite route, you better be a patient human being. The only thing I need to finish my AR-10 build is a barrel, and they haven't had a single fucking barrel in stock since March when I started this shit.
As someone who has built an AR10...I'd recommend not doing it. Just buy a DPMS G2.

This. either that or a M&P-10.
Or just shell out for a KAC SR-25/M110 or LM308MWS

why did you go the armalite route?

Armalite uppers are not interchangeable with other makers of 7.62 uppers. Your rifle will have to be all Armalite or All SR-25.

I strongly recommend going DPMS spec. It uses a lot of AR-15 parts, which makes it cheaper overall. My build cost roughly $800 shipped and transferred, plus tools and glass.

Lastly, here's a good compatibility guide for PSA .308s (PA-10s) http://out-of-battery.com/palmetto-state-armory-psa-ar-10-parts-compatability/ . The PA-10 lowers use a few proprietary parts; pins and whatnot. $20 from PSA gets you all those parts, then you use a standard AR-15 LPK to round it out. PA-10 uppers fit best, but there are others that also do; Google around. Needs a DPMS spec .308 bcg and DPMS spec barrel, plus .308 buffers and tubes.

i agree with this. i really like homebuild 556 ARs, but for 308, i wish i had bought a factory rifle (the g2 specifically) in the first place.
