what is your intended purpose for the roadflare/glowsticks? if its for a short term light source it kinda makes sense but if you want to mark rooms or something the glowsticks are better because they wont start fires and are generally longer lasting.

Yeah. I dont mind shit under my arms, i really dont. It was just the mags on my belt were interfering because the tacos make them sit so high. But im going to replace the tacos with two spare pig bombers, and that should lower them enough.

Itll take some weight off my belt, and that gp pouch is too damn useful.

Chicom or sadf. Use magpuls/ranger plates or stuff socks in the bottom of pouch if your mags sink to low to easily reach

How does one get past the feeling of being a LARPer buying the full tac vest, plate carrier, gloves, etc.? While anticipating The Happening, I somehow feel like I'd never actually get to use any of this stuff and would have less leeway at the range for wearing it because ᶠᵉᵐᵃᶫᵉ, while you guys wouldn't attract much attention. Ie: Aside from circle-jerkery at a /k/ meet, do I really need an Ops-Core? I had to stop myself the other night from going full flecktarn at the Amazon checkout screen, but would feel silly buying it at the same time

You could avoid going to the range and shoot on BLM land. I don't think being a girl has anything to do with gear being acceptable or not. Most range normies would reee at anyone wearing a platecarrier unless it was specifically a "tactical" training range.

My gear holds my ammo, water IFAK, radio, binocs, flashlight, head lamp, tourniquets, small roll of duct tape, and various naps in my bib. If I bribg my backpack I usually store more water, and MRE/mountain house meal, extra ammo, change of clothes, and some rain gear. I don't usually bring my gear camping, I have a high Sierra hiking bag with all that shit. If I don't take my bag I also usually throw a bag of jerky and some granola bars in my cargo pocket.
>>
>>30608647
>but you also mentioned you were buying for the happening.
Yes, I'm semi-serious about all of that. If we had another 2008-style crash in this political climate, I think it would kick off. The nastiness with BLM being shielded from scrutiny by a complacent media has already brought us close. So while I don't believe I'd actually use a kit at a range, I think maybe having a real one in the closet might not be a bad idea...

I will start looking for belts, though.

Belts, gloves, and a carrier.

hsgi suregrip/slimgrip are a common favorite. I know some people have the crye blast or avs belts and 5.11 makes one that looks ok.

you could also go with a ridged scuba webbing belt and kydex mag holders.

high threat concealment also makes a really expensive but nice system.

Not him and not coming from a place of hostility. However, I will say that your practice of posting a dozen pictures each thread is a bit much. I won't say don't do it, but that's my opinion.

Also, along with the business of offering advice, there are some red flags that I've seen in past threads that dissuades me from listening to certain posters. One is incessantly hammering away at silly incidentals. In your case, that would be arguing that multicam is shit when there are plenty of soldiers and veterans on here that actually attest to its effectiveness. You love woodland. Fine. But then you go and make claims like multicam doesn't work in CA, which...come on. It's clear that you argue something principally from a position of aesthetic preference whereas posters like Kaiser and Faulkner actually have experience. That leads me to my next point. It's evident that you don't have much experience with regard to "this kind of thing". Now, I'm an infantry veteran, but I'm not a faggot about it. I don't believe that someone HAS to have been AF/LE to know what they're talking about. Skeletor is an example of someone who has a wealth of knowledge about textiles without military experience. However, silly things like your unkempt gear just spells inexperience to me. Again, do whatever the hell you want. Just sharing an opinion here.

>>30608895
you are mischaracterizing what i have said. I'm sure i was directly talking to you when the multicam thing was brought up. I do not like multicam Aesthetically. Bu i never never said it was not effective. I own multicam uniforms, chest rigs, covers, ect. I said it doesn't work as well as woodland in on specific area of California. Multicam is extremely effective in central and southern California and it would be stupid to argue that. It works well in northern california too. However it is my personal opinion that woodland works better once you get into more heavily forested areas.

this is what i told you before. maybe not in so many words but that is what i said.

I also do not expect anyone to take my suggestions and advice at any more then face value. I want to help guide people towards getting things they will be happy with. It's true i have never served in the military. I have however spent my whole life backpacking, shooting, and being a militaria hobbyist..i have been posting in these threads for a long time and i'm not going to stop because of a few anons who take issue with me. I appreciate you leveling with me and having a real dialog instead of just shit flinging like so often happens.

from what i have seen most people don't like serpa holsters anymore. there are better options out there. A better on belt option is the gcode line of holsters. I personally don't like drop legs because i don't enjoy the strap digging into me as move but others seem to be fine with it.

1. Sun Bleaching
Leave your shit outside in strong sunlight to dull out the deep black appearance.
2. Washing
Repetitive washing can also help to fade cloth saturation.
3. Spray Paint
Purchase a very light spray paint and use a lot of it.

All of these methods will reduce very long term durability so it's better just to purchase the right color to begin with.

Anyone have experience with both the shellback banshee and patriot? I want to know if the banshee is worth the extra. Also how the mayflower apc compares to either. Is the crye jpc worth the price?

Also, anyone know of good plate carriers that clip in to either PC? I'd like lots of molle real estate and the ability to carry 8 M4 mags.

Lastly, how necessary is a battle belt to your setups?

Sorry for the newfag questions but I'm an infantryman that wants to get tactical.
>>
>>30609363
Nothing wrong with either.

SPERGs will argue otherwise though.
>>
>>30609425

Doesn't actually washing it defeat the whole point of ghillie washing? What the fuck is ghillie washing exactly anyways

>>30609429

You don't need the battle belt at all. Most people just use it to keep extra primary mags they could fit on their plate carrier, along with a backup weapon that isn't really necessary. Most people keep their IFAK and comms on their PCs

But we're all playing dressup so who cares

i own a shellback banshee. the new production ones are 500d cordura instead of 1000d. They are also more expensive then they used to be. They were never the best carriers but they were always decent. i've never owned any of the others you mentioned but the mayflower and jpc are both really common and well liked plate carriers from what i have seen. the jpc is really low profile and you pay a lot of dosh for the materials and brand name.

>how necessary is a battle belt
>>30609474 what he said.

also on the banshee the quick release buckles might dig into your collarbones when you wear a heavy backpack. but there is a fix for that http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?136275-Shellback-Tactical-Banshee-Modification
>>
>>30609429

I like mine a lot. the battle belt offers flexibility for your load out. if your just training in tac pits it's enough. if you're out innawoods far from medevac a plate carrier isnt a bad idea for safety reasons.

>>
>>30609632
Reduced breathability of clothing, damage to DWR treatments on soft shells, unnecessary wear on your equipment. If you were actually training in the gear you wouldn't have to do shit like that. Drill getting into and out of various shooting positions, and you'll get your gear nasty. And then you should probably wash that shit unless you want your sweat smell to propagate all over the place when you're "operating".

Im 6ft 185 and the cummerbund fit perfectly with no adjustment needed, it's supposed to be a one size fits most so you shouldn't have any issues whatsoever

I put three mags on the front and two, even three more can fit on the side without any problems. If you want to carry extra without a battle belt you can easily double-stack the front, I just prefer it as flat as possible

Reapplying the DWR means cleaning off the mud you got on it. So the point of "ghillie washing" has been defeated if you do that.

Also seriously you shouldn't need to buy a fucking spray bottle of deodorizer to keep your gear scent-free so you can keep mud on your gear. Just wash it, the -5 penalty to camouflage is fucking not a big dealio. Just spray some fucking paint on randomly if you want it to be extra camouflagy for your region.

But nearly all of my nco leadership has 2+ tours and CIBs from active duty. My current PSG has full high speed crye jpc, battle belt, and everything.

They're fine with it so long as we've got the soft armor inserts at least.

Besides we're deploying to *places* fairly soon and the PSG told us to buy whatever we wanted to high-speedify our gear.

So yeah. Whatever that means.

>>
>>30609967
He didn't say we needed soft armor, just heavily implied it. I could probably get away without them. Shellback offers nice packages for both.

I want to go somewhere between $500-750 for the full setup. Chest rig preferred but not required. Requirements:

>8 mags total
>IFAK on left hip
>Admin pouch (LT has me navigate for him sometimes because LT)

Something I'd like:
>Canteen pouch for nalgene.
>Some pouch for nods.

Yeah, generally my unit is pretty squared away. We've got a really solid experienced BN, and have kinda embraced the whole light infantry Bullshit. I guess it helps that our battalion has the most medal of honor winners of any battalion in the army. That kinda shit tends to be easy inspiration and motivation material.

My apologies for being unaware of the latest mineral water developments.

I hang my head in shame. Must have missed the latest issue of "Water Fanciers' Monthly".
>>
>>30610733
I've been posting in these threads for a year and a half and it's only recently that it's become a problem. it's not your fault. It will go away and people will go back to the occasional beard comment and we can actually talk about gear.

What would be baby's first body armor + carrier setup be? I want something in case things go to shit in the nearby city.

I would prefer something light weight. If it's worth it I don't mind the price tag either.

Isn't that just a ripoff of ALICE gear?
>>
If anyone is interested in plates, this might save them a few dollars.

I have some of their single curve plates and they are decent for the price I paid.
>>
>>30610772
You are way too salty about a bunch of random idiots in 4chan making fun of you. I'm short guy and they give me shit all the time. Do I care? No. Just ignore it and talk about gear.
>>
>>30611187
no not really. alice gear is modular and made of really rough materials. smersh is like mollewebbing that has no molle and you cant adjust the pouches.

It is in glorious 9mm. Animal is fine, that's just where his ball got kicked to when putting my gear there (no he was not inside during the kicking).

i don't care about the terrorist beard or ur fat memes. the thing that rubbed me the wrong way is the people implying that i can't be helpful or have any insight in these threads for bullshit reasons they made up. i counted my posts and did the math and at that time (137 total posts) i had posted 29% of the comments in the thread. more than half of those were answers or questions relating to gear. the rest was responding to their bullshit. I got baited for sure tho.
>>
>>30611289
It actually does have molle webbing and you can adjust the pouches friend.
>>
>>30609731
Hopefully he doesn't get shot.

that's not true of all smersh. i was speaking more generally.

Nations Rise and Fall throughout history
Ignoring the fact is an example of insanity

If nothing happens - all the merrier. I can pass on to my children a trunk full of old gear (from the tactical golden age) that's worth more then than it's worth right now.

Something like a Mayflower APC or the AWS OCPC seems like a good bet. Edge goes to the Mayflower for being faster to don.

Uh bro if you were that bothered to actually count how many posts you made is pretty fucking depressing. Maybe you need to take a break from these threads. I'm not trying to be mean but I think you need to find something productive to do instead of posting on 4chan. You take it far too seriously.
