Pic related is my truck, it's a 1996 F-150 with a rack and extended bed. The radio doesn't work, and odometer doesn't work, and neither does the horn. What modifications need to be done to make it the ultimate operator operations vehicle

Those things are such a pain in the ass to take out
The guy clearly didn't know what he was doing
Especially since stock radios aren't worth shit
>>

Who gives a fuck
It most likely runs, so beyond that,it doesn't matter reliability wise
It's a Ford
The regular shit will have to be fixed eventually

Not OP btw

put a bed cap on it and throw some gear and mats in the back for a little enclosed shooting station

put a gun rack on the rear window

Paint it dark earth to start. Paint the roof rack a matte black with bedliner or something similar for that texture. Make or place a roof cargo basket in that space of rack over the cab. Make some bench seats from the back of the cab to...let's say the gas cap. Make a standing platform and support gear for a technical gunner to stand at the rear. Find a decommissioned medium machine gun. Get good off road tires (for aesthetic really) and find some large yet tasteful bullbars for the front. Get two large spotlights( fuck that LED shit, we're not fucking around here) on the bullbars and three or four on the front of the roof basket.

As good as I can come up with. It'll cost you, but if you can weld and you can find scrap shit or stuff purpose built for another vehicle there is no reason why you can't start modding shit to work.

>like pic related for what it would look like

>>

I too have an old red F-150. 2000, extendo bed, and natural gas tank in the back that is kind of like a small bench. cupoholder broke off so I usually stuff a pistol in the hole that remains.
>>
Mount a TOW launcher on the back, and put a light machine gun on the passenger side dash, sticking out the windshield.

I know it's stupid.
>>
>>30599519

Just get yer HAM and build a mobile station in your truck, better gear, more frequencies, and you can blast hundreds of watts into FRS/GMRS frequencies and spread the gospel of the /k/ube all the underage B& of your county.
>>
>>30598614
Regular maintenance is all it should need. Most trucks are built to last, so as long as it's under 300k, it should be fine
>inb4 odometer stopped working at 299k

Shove your crap in the back and go.

The more important question is: where do you plan on going and what you plan on taking with you?
>>
>>30598614
Fix the horn, radio, and odometer.
Mount a fiddycal on the back. It can even be a Barrett if you want your murderwagon to be legal.

there is 79,000 miles of difference between your car and his. Not to mention the fact that he is stating his 1996 vehicle only has 7,000 miles, which is utterly insane. That is just about 1 mile per day since the car was put together.

How???? When did this happen?

If it happened a week or so ago, I could understand this complete negligent care.If it happened "a while back", then there isn't any excuse for you not to repair it.
>>
>>30599519
It may be that the machine gun is there to fire from outside the vehicle at a stop. Using the car as cover and shooting across the hood. Or maybe not.
>>
>>30600735
happened like 2 weeks ago
>>
>>30601032
Please tell me that you plan to repair it
(learn how to, they aren't overly difficult repairs)? Check to make sure that you haven't blown a fuse first (a major cause for the horn going out). If you don't feel capable of doing such a thing, your ability to change your truck into an "operator vehicle" becomes moot.
>>
>>30601198
yes I plan to repair, just haven't had time lol
>>
>>30601264
Good. The truck will last you almost an eternity if you keep up the maintenance.

What's in the bag that you'll take with you if everything starts going to hell?
>>
>>30598614

Rattle can flat black, get a lift, 2" shouldn't set you back that much on that truck, a good set of BF Goodrch, Rugged Terrain or All Terrain tires.

Paint wheels flat black.

Get a L tank for the bed with a hand pump to transfer fuel to on board tanks.

Which engine does it have? That might need a touch of work, or at least a regear of the diffs to get some more torque.
>>
>>30601401
I love that idea, although I might not rattle can it, i'll get it done professionally, but the lift and tires and fuel tanks are a great idea.

Do you know where you're going to go and how to sustain yourself there?

Your bag isn't bad. It isn't great because you should ideally carry something to reliably start a fire with, as well as some decent non-perishable foodstuffs (think more along the lines of a 10+ bag of white rice).

Do you know how to setup a decent trap for small game or build a decent fishing system in any season?
>>
>>30600128
is that shit street legal?
>>
>>30601623
I'll get a lighter, matches, and magnesium firestarters, and yes I know good streams and land for small game here in Louisiana
>>
>>30601842
That's not entirely what I asked.

Do you know how to setup a decent trap for small game or build a decent fishing system in any season (albeit, LA is pretty much temperate year round)?

Let's say, you don't have your BOB and you find yourself in the nearest state forest closest to you. Would you know how to survive?
>>
>>30601686
yeah why wouldn't it be?
>>
>>30601948
shit not for long, but im always learning.
>>
>>30598614
thats not even a 96 F-150. Thats at least 97.
>>
>>30601979
That's a great way of thinking about things. Always plan (or at least know what you would do) for the absolute worst case scenario.

A simple noose isn't hard to construct, nor is a rudimentary fishhook.

Will you ever need to know how to survive without anything? Likely not.

Would you want to know how to if you were forced into the same situation?
>>
>>30598614
Put a sunroof over the passenger seat. Above that, a Scharff ring mounting an auto loader shotgun. AA-12 would be ideal, but you can settle for a Remington 1100. Then add a coax 10/22, just for the hell of it.

Next, install running boards. You can probably get 3 guys on each side. Put fall protection on them, they can clip lanyards to the rack and lean outward for maximum operationalness. Have them put their ballcaps on backwards so they don't blow off at speed. Sunglasses are mandatory. Arm them with AR's, .30-30s, and Hawaiian slings.

On each side of the rack, have a pintle mounted .577 T. Rex.

The tailgate will have to be down for action stations, so the tail gunner has a place to sit. Put a ball hitch there so he doesn't slide off. He gets a 10 ga. Greener double, slugs and rock salt loads.

Have a couple of other people in the bed, one with a crossbow the other with a wrist rocket. Their main function is to light and toss road flares.

Duct tape an 8 track tape deck under the radio. Loosen the speaker wires so you get lots of hiss and crackle. Also install a mis-matched set of the biggest speakers you can find for under $25 at the flea market. Spray beer on one until it buzzes at top volume. Tape selection- one each of Molly Hatchet, .38 Special, and Whitesnake. Locked in the glove box is Greatest Hits of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Play "Freebird" when rolling into action.

Reupholster the seats with Mexican blankets and duct tape.

Make another trip to the flea market to get as many fog lights and KC Highlites as you can find.

Last thing. Get about a dozen break action 12 gauges. Mount these to the rack, pointing up and slightly outward. Install solenoids on the triggers, wired to the horn button. Load 'em up with Dragon's Breath. Hit the horn and it'll look like the sun just rose out of your truck.

Now, you're ready to go tear assing all over the golf course and shoot the fuck out of some Canadian geese.

Depends on how much money you want to spend. But what this guy said. 2inch lift, some newer wheels. This is probably a higher priority item, along with good maintenance. You'll get more out of your vehicle maintaining it and becoming skilled with driving it than you will modding it.

As for the optional stuff:
-Start looking into craigslist ads for used bumper replacements, preferably with a winch, if not you can find them on sale. Some of them will have recovery shackles which are nice
-Also consider a UHF/VHF radio (CB is retarded) assuming you know programming and how to radio.
-Tailgate net, or bed tender, something that will make your tailgate not get in the way or bounce up and down during the time you're getting in/out
-Consider some sort of back rack, ladder cover, or soft top. If you plan on going innawoods it is nice to have a place you can stretch out and sleep. A soft top will keep your bed open, the back rack and ladder covers more give you the ability to just throw a tarp over the back

Thats about it, a lot of modifications depend on where you live and such. If you have rivers or swamps then you can think about a snorkel but mods are expensive and you don't really have a great platform to work on. I will say a key to any vehicle modification for outdoor use should be KISS, Keep It Simple, Stupid

Good luck
>>
>>30603191
It's already got a back rack, a tarp I could throw over that would make a great sleeping/storage area.
