Atlantic is good. A3S is just GI model with black paint over the park and still has the 2-position Navy lower PTR's used for years. Trigger group preference is mainly for ergos; if you have large hands the plastic grip on the metal lower is more comfortable by most accounts. I don't mind the Navy lower because I find it easier to manipulate the selector without shifting my grip.
I was just thinking of something that would start a shitstorm the likes of which we seldom see. That being an inrange tv mud test, between an FAL and a PTR. No matter the outcome, it would be a sight to see.

There is anecdotal evidence supporting the idea that (Fusil Automatique Leger) + (Steel Case) = (Bad Things). This ranges from reports on arfcom of people having their FALs blown up by Wolf to the guys on FALfiles saying that the lacquer will melt off and gunk up your chamber to even the disclaimer on the DSA website that steel cased ammo is not recommended. People also like to bitch about how it will jam their rifles or make their rifles not cycle.
HOWEVER
These people are not the norm.
The fact of the matter is that most steel ammo (Monarch, I'm looking at you) is woefully underpowered, for whatever reason. Any perceived unreliability can be fixed by dialing up the gas all the way and learning to love violent ejection. The lacquer doesn't actually melt in your chamber, and it doesn't run any dirtier than the ZQI I normally buy.
People will also say that the ammo is harder on the extractor, but that's also a bit of misinformation, as the steel used in modern casings is actually softer than the metal of the extractor.
As for the rifle that got blown up by Wolf, I think that was confirmed to be a super hot load or some shit. Would have blown up the FAL regardless of whether the casing was brass or not, had more to do with shitty Russian QC than anything else.
tl;dr go to academy, buy some monarch, dial up the gas, and fire away. Hope that helps.

Protip: Any M1A mount is going to be torqued on there hard or you are going to get movement and you will most likely lose zero when you remove it

It's a plastic bullpup FAL put together with drywall screws by the great scientific minds over at Kel-Tec.
They are, like many things produced by Kel-Tec, very hit/miss. Some people have ones that function flawlessly and are solid as a rock. Others, not so much. If you want one, try to get your grubby hands on it first so that you can feel for poor construction before you throw $1,500 down the shitter.
If you want a consistent rifle that uses a tilting breechblock action with a short stroke piston and accepts FAL magazines, then buy an FAL.

Underneath the shitty rubber pad is the storage compartment for the GI cleaning kit, but it's not integral to the fiberglass stock. SA installed and screwed the compartment in place, then covered it up so it's unusable until you put a GI buttplate on.
It was easy enough to swap out, but it raises the question: why not just ship it with a GI buttplate and a slip on/off rubber pad?
