So I already have a majority of the things I need for my Long Range setup. See the list and tell me what other gear I need to get the Full Monty. I was picking off flowers at 904 Yards across a Valley this previous week at 7.5 mrad.

1. Rifle Stock Model 18008 Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor
2. Stabilized 6-9" Bipod (should move to a 6-12")
3. Vortex Viper PST 6x24x50 FFP EBR 2C MRAD Reticle Scope
4. Trigger is set to 3 Pounds
5. Ammo stash is setup with 250 rounds stockpiled (350 Rounds fired So Far) in magazines (3x10,1x20,1x25) all from the same lot. I generally order 100 Rounds at a time due to Cost/Production Run consistency. Current Load of Choice is Hornady Precision Hunter 143 Gr @ 2700 FPS.
6. Range Finder is Sig Sauer Kilo 2000
7. Ballistics is done via Local weather and Strelock

Things I think I still need.

A) Kestrel Handheld Weather Station
B) Some type of Night Vision enabler for the Vortex Scope.
C) Newer scope for greater ranges with greater internal adjustments. Limited to 10 MRAD at current 0. The Reticle(Horus Style) gives me another 6-9 Usable mrad in elevation at different magnifications but I prefer not to Hold for elevation unless its a quick follow up shot. Thinking Razor Gen 2 in a similar reticle.

D) Reloading Gear. God damn this can get expensive at 1.20/round but worth it when you knock over that target @ 900 Yards.

So /k/ What else do I need. Pic is very related.

Sounds like you need a good drag bag and maybe a good shooting mat.

I have everything I need except a nice laser range finder. I don't wanna cheap out on one of the $300 ones that don't range reliably to 1000. I wanna wait till I can afford something in the $800 range that will range out to 1000 yards with utter reliability.

I have the $150 Kestrel. It is awesome. Don't waste your money on the expensive one with the built in doping software. Waste of money. You should have your dope sheets already, based on your load and various temp and pressure conditions.

Why would I want to buy a rifle that does all of this for me. I enjoy the the art of it all.
>>
What is the best Remington 700 model for long range shooting? Not counting the scope of course.
>>
>>30590400
the one made by Savage
>>
Reloading equipment should be first.

You dont need much, just get a rockchuker starter kit. It will take you far.

Dont blow your wad on a new kestrel. An older model works just as well.

Your scope is fine for the RPR. You will want a new barrel before new glass.

Shooting mat is nice (midway has some good ones)

Taller bipod is nice. I grabed some extentions for my atlas and love it.

Personally.... My next buy is a kilo2000. No need for NV here (illegal to hunt with or be afield with durring hunting season)

I also recom3nd a mildot master manual calculator

>>30590400
Just skip the rem700. Get a howa 1500 , savage or fn if you want a factory based rifle.. Else, just save up and buy a custom action .

I've already decided for a Remington 700 in 300 win.

Your not the only opinion on this board. Other's can comment as well.....although your elitist Attitude says that you may be thinking your pretty special.

Thanks for the input so far.

Nope not the same. But the same conclusion.

If you feel spendy the $190 kestrel 3500 is all you need.

Print out a density altitude chart. Bring a compas, maybe maybe buy a weather vane mount.

And your good to go.

The ballistics models have built in balistics computers ( you dont need just take your own drop chart) and data logging. And compass For and extra $500 .

That extra money can be spent in many other ways that will make you a better shooter.

>>30590470
Try and find sendero or a 5r . your looking at droping at least $1000 on the rifle , and then your going to want to toss the stock in the trash.

Sendero looks awesome!

Fill a sock with airsoft BBs to place under the toe of your stock.

Also you are missing:

Infrared thermometer
Chronograph
Notepad
Come up with some charts based on your velocities at different temperatures. Meccastreisand's charts are the most accurate. Strelok's calculations are okay but charts are a lot better.
