Why aren't there very many 10mm guns? It seems like a good cartridge.

trying to get a non nato standard calibre to take off is a bitch, hate how nato and warsaw pact killed calibre diversity.
It's very snappy and early firearms chambered for it were often just modified versions of other guns that weren't beefed up enough to deal with it.

Manufacterers aren't going to all go running to make a pistol chambered in a less than common caliber. 9mm, 45acp, and even shitty .40 all have histories with military or civilian police departments. unless a round gets adopted in this way it is not likely to become common, and thus not likely to have a lot of guns made for that round OP.

It's kind of a round without a purpose. Any use has largely been supplemented by the .40 S&W (which as we all know isn't the most in demand cartridge). The 10mm was kind of a bitch to shoot when you need follow up shots. As for a smg or carbine, you're exactly right. The .45 is just a better choice.

Every .40 S&W gun should have been a 10mm gun. The whole reason .40 short and weak exists is that 10mm was too much for bitch-ass FBI agents to handle. Instead of telling their agents to git gud the bureau bought weaker guns and here we are.

Its a nice list and all, but once you really break down the pistol type and variation it's pretty shit. For practical purposes you have the G20 and G29, some 1911s, a few CZ clones,and a P220. Everything else gets into retard price range including the 1911s.
Its not 5.7 but the variety is kinda shit in the grand scheme
