Spears have been around since the dawn of man, it's primal but effective. Yeah, great we have technology but sometimes technology fails and we have to resort to other items, such as a blade. Saying there is no use in a bayonet, is like saying knifes have no use. A bayonet can be used for other purposes too, but if it's used as a weapon, you have a range greater than a knife which is much more effective.
