This is permitted, like if you're a worker or pick mushrooms (an example actually in the book) though I imagine they would fuck me over anyway.

How do /k/ommando's care for their knives? I just bought an el-cheapo knife to practice care for ( pic related ) but am having trouble getting the sharpening technique for the plain edge down. I'm able to do the serrations easily enough ( I have a tool for it that works well ) but an hoping /k/ can help me out.

I believe so, it's discounts all around for prime users as far as I understand. The commercials and advertisements never gave too many details.

Amazon may not be the best sight for knives but if you have prime they've got some good deals on name brand knives

Canada has the same laws. Its a tool, if the cops find it on you (which they never will unless you act like a nigger) tell them its for whittling or eating or whatever the fuck you want.
>>30581723
If they want to fine you or something take them to court on it, they don't have time to deal with that shit and there's a 90% chance they'll drop it immediately, if they don't for some outlandish reason you'll still win.

In that case I might stay away from shit in the steels I suggested because they tend to be in the $100+ range. If you don't mind it go ahead, but some people aren't too cool with the idea of spending that much on a tool. They're tough steels and the majority of the Cold Steel folders are pretty fucking indestructible.

my beater is currently a CRKT m21. I got it on sale at Lowe's and while it's in a softer steel, it's held up really nice.

It's a training knife, no way to grind it otherwise I'd use it. Preferably on without a handle like the one in the pic, but it's not necessary.

I like my S&W knife. Fixed blade, has very nice weight to it, the holes around the hilt can be used to tie it to a stick to made into a spear if need be. Only downsides to it are it's size and probably the quality of steel it was manufactured out of. And the sheath is utter nylon dog shit, though it came with a whetstone pouch too.

After that and cut to shape, bevelled and roughly the knife shape you want it needs to be heated up to cherry red/non-magnetic, dunked into warm oil. Final temper is 260C for 2hours which gets it to around 59-60RHC

from what i understand its a guy in china and he makes runs of a few models and then stops doing them and runs a few new lines

titanium and s35vn so probably not at the mall

its out there but i kinda like that. the few reviews claim to being very well made and im interested, also interested in a few kizers

chinese clones have gotten pretty damn good over the years and they use good materials to boot like titanium and D2 with good fit and finish. So its nice to see original stuff well made with excellent materials, even if the design is a little out there

Or go for the cheaper, thinner version by CRKT.

Should I get a balisong with rivets or screws?
>>
>>30596196

If you really want a balisong, and don't mind overpaying for the fact that you are getting a balisong, get a good quality one first.

Generally, that means screws, and put loctite on the threads.
>>
>>30596205
This.

>>30596196
Anon get anything BRS, HOM, or sometimes Benchmade. If you go production BM go for a 62/63/67 and get FlyTanium scales, or go for a 51 and FlyTi scales. If you don't mind searching for rarer balis, the BM42 is a good one and a huge part of bali history. You might have to search for a HOM or BRS because they only drop in batches occasionally

its worth it they have one hell of a warranty.bought a benchmade mini grip second hand for liek 50 bucks sent it it they replace the washers, the liners, the clip and sharpened up the blade, tuned the action and sent it back with a new box,all for free

A brand new one is $100. I don't like buying used knives and I can eat with those extra $20. I can also just get a better knife from spyderco for less or an even better knife for $100~ if I'm really concerned about the steel but I'm really not

They sell Opinels and Mora's into Aus for a few bucks more than the US pays for them.

To finally answer your question...
I will probably order another Cold Steel Voyager XL Tanto. 5.5" blade. This time without partial serration. Because why tf not?

Also, if you don't mind partial serration, this beast is on Amazon for under $50. Easily the best monster-folder you will ever own. I've field-dressed a pheasant. Cut down and widdled walking sticks out of small trees with it, thrown it at a wooden target, had it fall on metal, wood, granite, etc. No major damage, not even some play in the blade. Buy a smaller one if you want another EDC type of knife, but this thing, as my father once put it, "that's a knife for the end of the world."

widdled, fiddled, aww fuck it, I carved the fuck out of sticks with it. I don't know the correct terminology/spelling anymore, apparently..

Point is, the knife is tough as nails. People have tried to break the lock and the blade will break before the lock does in most circumstances. Tri-ad lock by Cold Steel is the closest I've ever seen folders come to fixed blades.

>>30607002
Too mall ninja? The Spec Elite I is one of the most highly recommended/preferred knives by spec ops/forces. I can see you feeling that way about a lot of their folders, but they do have some gems in the mix.

I've had good luck bringing non-serrated knives to my local butcher and getting them back nice/sharp as I buy my meat ( Festival Foods is a big grocery chain in the US that offers free knife sharpening if you can't find a butcher ) but they refuse to do serrated knives. I'm actually decent at sharpening serrations with my Veff Sharp but I bought a Sunrise Pro yesterday and am hoping I'll have more success with that with sharpening the actual plain edge.

Fuck up cunt you can't blame every Australian for this stupid system. Most Australians are simply brainwashed from a young age that the government is all powerful, follow the rules above all else, white guilt, and all the other progressive shit that drives people away from liberty. Makes them think lifes not valuable. In an argument with a colleague of mine recently, he told me that if the government was coming to his house to take him away for execution, no matter the reason, it would be wrong to resist. "progressivism" undermines the value of human life. And it's taken hold basically all over the world except for some holdouts in parts of America. So instead of calling us all commie fucks, have some perspective. If you live in a place where your God given human rights aren't completely undermined by the government "for your own good" then you are in a lucky minority of all humanity.

You trollin' son. Boker is better than Gerber and Gerber is better than Mtech. There's a lot of shit-tier like MTech, but SOG isn't one of them. They make some shit knives, I'll give you that, but most of them are sub-$30 knives, and if that's all you're willing to pay for a knife, that ought to be all that you get.

TRIGGERED aren't ya? You're very well overpaying for FRN+VG10 at that price and you're stupid if you think it'll hold up compared to a well made integral knife. But that doesn't matter if you're clearly some tryhard tacticool never served nigger

>>30610646
SOGs are the cheapest feeling brand name knives I've handled. I wanted a flash knife and get turned on to it every once in a while but nope every time I feel it in hand. They're mtech tier at benchmade prices. I can't believe I used to feel the same way about CRKT but at least their knives have done me well

Buy a older cold steel,if you are on the cheap if not buy a new one.older ones have aus 8 and new ones have ctsxhp which is a great steel.all should come with the triad long which is the strongest lock on the market.
>>
>>30610646
I agree on most of them, The Trident and Flash are the one ones I've really liked. The Zoom was also fairly solid, but I've seen reviews reporting a lot of side-to-side play in their newer automatic blades as well. Same goes for their cheaper liner locks in general. I've always disliked clip-points, and I've heard more complaints about them, but it may just be becuase they're more popular than tantos? Idfk. Generally, aside from automatics and bad reviews, the cheaper you buy, the more play you get, the more expensive, the less play. At least, that's been my experience with them so far.

>>30610978
idk about being triggered, but I'll be damned if the NW Ranger, Pentagon, Tsunami, Tident Tanto folder, Spec Elite I manual folder, and Flash Kiku knives are shit-tier. Most of them are AUS-8/VG-10 or similar, and I really like those mid-range steels. Very easy to touch up and resharpen. Plus they hold and edge decently. Not the best/longest, but good for the money.

Then there's Mtech where you pay $10-$20 for 440 Stainless, MAYBE carbon steel, but probably very thin, if it is. You get all the side-to-side play in every single make/model and the edge doesn't last for crap unless it's the carbon steel. Even then, they're the epidomy of mallninja knives. Basically you don't like SOG because you're poor and have bad taste.

Lmao, as if every other Spyderco knife doesn't look like a slight reshape of its' predecessor. I honestly never understood the popularity. Ugliest shits ever.

This discontinued the only good looking tanto they ever made (Double Bevel) and over-charged for it because some custom maker supposedly designed it while CRKT makes designer knives for people on a budget with similar quality, like the Tighe Tac 2 Tanto, for CHEAP. Tighe Tac 2 tanto is $35 while the Double Bevel went for $260 MSRP. That's horse-shit.
>>
>>30612512
A kiku costs more than an endura and you get a shittier steel and a shittier blade. How that's somehow "better" is lost on me
>>
>>30612602
Spyderco has plenty of variety in steels and colors and materials and handles. Hell they're responsible for a lot of innovation whereas all SOG can do is keep that weird double scallop spine and see what different tones of black they can add to their knives

If you pay $68 for that ugly/whimpy-ass Spyderco knife, that's on you. I'd rather get the Kiku folder for nearly same price on Amazon. VG-10 is only slightly better than AUS-8. Slightly. Both are basically about mid-grade steel, imbecile. And The Kiku looks way sexier. The Endura looks like, well yeah, like most Spyderco knives. I honestly don't know how you fans keep track of the models. The different ones really stand out, but most of them seriously look like a variation of the same ugly-ass knife with the Spider-hole.

Nah sorry mate, VG-10 is a significant step over Aus-8, even Ganzo's 440c has been tested to significantly outperform Aus-8, although that wasn't SOG's Aus so maybe they have a good handle on it's HT.

>>30612918
If you like coatings, your taste is auto-shit in my eyes.

I own a Benchmade with the axis lock, They both perform relatively same function and lock the knife. My Benchmade has more play in it than my Spec Elite, and while Spec Elite is not spring assisted, it's solid-as-fuck. At least it's easy to tighten my Spec Elite, not that I've ever even needed to. Meanwhile I have to take both the scales off of my Benchmade to get to the main screw and tighten the shit. The difference in price between the two is $7, with Benchmade in the lead, but I feel the Spec Elite I manual was a far better purchase and I carry it far more often. That is VG-10 steel. I managed to chip it. My AUS-8 blades? No chips yet.

You guys are poor and get all your info off the internet so you butt-hump the top brands or something. VG-10 is better, but seriously, not all that much better.

Of course the softer steel rolls. You never touch up a knife with a rod and strop before? I do it after every use and have never had to put a stone to my AUS8 blades, and I've gutted animals with the shit, whittled sticks, cut bottles/cans, tape, etc.. You GTFO.
