What's a good dust cover with rail for a M70 NPAP I have the underfolder version so it didn't come with a side rail.
>>
>>30579715
Yes but make sure that "v" shaped part towards the barrel is not just wedged against that hammer spring. It needs to be firmly seated in the groove that's in the hammer pin. If that wire piece is riding against those grooves on both pins you're good

>>
>>
>>30579750
Here we are. So the end of the shepards hook doesnt have to be hooked around the hammer pin, but it has to rest in thr groove to keep it from falling out. On top of being over, not under, the trigger pin. Correct?

>>30579715
no, the hook goes on the side where you got it near the hammer, but the other size points down towards the trigger.

you gotta use your screwdriver to push it down and then slide your trigger pin in, and make sure it doesnt bend or twist, and the bend is 90deg to the bottom, and flat against the side.
>>
>>30579785
Yes. The elbow end basically runs into it, it doesn't need to hook around it. It just chills in the groove. If you tried to hook it around, youd probably find that the other end wouldn't reach the safety pin hole.
>>
>>30579805
Neat picture of the first generation buttstock with the ovoid release button in action

The 74M also has no bump rivet, and has a ribbed dust cover, although there's no way of telling if the dust cover is original or not.

>>30579844
You have to put the safety through 90 degrees and catch it through the end of the shepherd's hook and gently pull it up to the pin hole where it goes.
>>
>>30579745
None. Railed dust covers are shit tier. You'll never hold zero with a shitty railed dust cover. If you can see about getting a regular AK style side rail installed if possible. Second best option would be an ultimak gas tube rail that can be rigged up to work on PAP rifles.

Don't waste money and time on a dust cover anon.
>>
>>
>>30579859
>it has a ribbed top cover
But that's what I said silly

The bump rivet, the fourth rivet, the bolt assist rivet, is missing. Indicating, along with the buttstock, that the rifle is an early 74M.

There is no extra button on the stock. It's just a different style.
>>
>>
>>30579866
Damn, there we go. Once I got the plate arm through the shepards hook whole it was a bitch to wrestle the arm into where it goes on the other side of the reciever. How does that look? Hook is over trigger pin, and the end is up against but not wrapped around the hammer pin. Trigger pin moves a tiny bit, but hammer pi
n won't budge.

I need to take apart my FCG entirely some time just to gain somefamiliarity with it but I'm so paranoid that I'll fuck up my rifle forever. Does anyone else have that problem? It's my first rifle, maybe that's why?

Everybody struggles with it the first few times. Worst thing you can do is tweak out that hook and you'll just need a tapco plate for 4 bucks. That looks right though. Pins may move a cunt hair in and out but should catch the shepherd's hook. You'll know you got it wrong if you go to shoot it and they start to walk out

If all those parts are original, I'd say 90 or maybe 91. The limiting factor being the ribbed top cover, but those are so easily replaceable you can't reliably use them for dating an AK.

Stocks are infrequently replaced, and if they're replaced it's likely to be with a newer model. Since that's the first model stock, I'd say it's likely original to that rifle, and from my own serial number research I believe they were used in 92 at the latest, maybe early 93.

The most concrete detail is the lack of the bump rivet, but I'm not sure when those were phased in for sure. I think around 95 but don't quote me.

Prior to the appearance of the bump rivet, the bullet guide had a small ramp built into the left side that served the same purpose. It is to "bump" the bolt and start its rotation so that it doesn't get bound up. For some reason they removed the ramp from the bullet guide and started using a rivet instead. I'm not sure why, because it seems more cost effective the other way around. On the inside of the receiver the bump rivet is cylindrical when new, but with use it wears down into a ramp shape.

There's a channel through the middle top rail that allows you to clearly see and use iron sights.

AR hands down. AK is not inaccurate, but the AR is inherently more accurate than pretty much anything not bolt action, simply due to it being direct impingement.

IMO AK is much, much more fun to shoot. 7.62x39 is love, 7.62x39 is life. It's light enough it won't beat you up, but it still has enough oomf to make things interesting.

Depends. There's a lot of variance on the civilian market. A heavy barrel AR will weigh much more than a standard AK.

That said a generic AK will weigh more than a standard AR.

Ruger AR-556 weighs 6.5lbs, WASR 10 weighs 7.5lbs.

Hey guys, anyone know if AK-pattern and Vz58 sight adjusting tools are cross-compatible?

The pics I've seen online look very similar
>>
>want arsenal metal sidefolder
>want side mounted optics
>want to be able to use my rifle folded
What do? Are there compatible right side folders?
>>
>>30583445

If you're a machinist you could try to make an extra joint in the stock arm so it sort of wraps around the side optic?
>>
Is there a huge difference between DDI and Arsenal quality?

Also, whats the difference between N-PAP, O-PAP, M92 and WASR-10s?

AK begginer here, sorry
>>
>>30583499

Arsenal is supposed to be higher quality but there has been some questionable quality control in the last year or so for some people. Look up the DDI factory tour on youtube, I would have no problem saving $300+ with a DDI.
>>
>>30583499

Npap has already been a proven ak in battle unlike all the others, hell. Even afghan goat fuckers who probably don't know the first thing about maintenance used them.
>>
>>30583445

You're fucked

You could, however, convert an ak into a right side folder using bonesteel arms folding stock. This would allow you to use optics mounted on the side.
http://bonesteelarms.com/Ak-Saiga-Folding-Galil-style-stock-AKFSGL.htm

There were polish right side folders (not the wire stocks) that were similar to this but I think they're all gone.

Shit, that makes your statement even more retarded. Do you have any idea how many times the Romanian AKs can be seen in action? I guess that makes the WASR10 combat proven too, except it was actually already issued in conflict zones. Shit, the OPAP is more in spec with the Yugo AKs than the NPAP.

Why do people never research what they buy?

Very rarely(in my experience)do gun stores stock good or high quality AKs and instead choose to stock IO's and RAS47s. Maybe an NPAP or two that are miles ahead in quality of the other two options.

Magazines are only an issue to those who use shit like promag 223 mags. Circle 10 556 (black) and Beryl (black) mags will feed reliably. I think an issue may lie with the bottom bolt lug but I can't find much info on it. A known problem lies also with barrels without a proper feedramp

It's so third worlders can just smash the rivet a little more if they need it built back up, instead of fucking with replacing the bullet guide.

It's a damn good idea for increasing the longevity of it. Look at your bullet guide, it's probably a bit beat up just from moderate use.

depends on the fucking supressor ya dingus. slav milspec supressors are gonna be pretty much guaranteed worse than even most low end american made cans.

go look up decibel reductions of supressors from 16" barrel on .223/5.56 and you basically have your answer.

pbs-3 (?) supressor made for AKs, and because ak muzzle brake threading is huge
>>
>>30586351
it's 24mm x 1.5mm, it's the perfect size really. Small enough you can buy a tap for it relatively cheap (I found a quality Japanese tap for $14 on ebay), and just big enough you can single-point thread it internally on a lathe.

Also, that explanation doesn't apply, the threading isn't huge at all, the nut they have screwed onto there is fucking huge.

AK brakes aren't huge like that, "ya dingus".

Thanks for the photos. The smokes are not military grade, not steel reinforced. They have steel lugs, but no steel at the feed lips. They tend to crack around the front lug as the polymer in the smoke mags is a different type than the black mags and is very brittle. How many rounds have you had through this rifle and have you had any issues?
