After the recent incident in Dallas it's obvious that we will likely see combat robots in the near future, so how do you fight them? Are there any bullet designs that would be able to increase the damage done to robot like like hollow points and fragmenting bullets do to living tissue or will soldiers just be stuck mag dumping into the robots hoping to nick something vital that will make the robot stop? With bullets just being able to punch straight holes would pistol ammunition work just as well against unarmored robots as rifle ammunition? Will people on Youtube start posting tests to see how different ammunition does in standardized tests involving firing through layers of steel/aluminum/plastic?

12 gauge with bird shot hitting hydraulics would be a good bet. But I'd try not being a criminal first. Assuming some sort of nightmare future though... who knows. My guess would be using terrain to advantage... changing appearance to fool face scanning... masking body heat... Molotov cocktails would work nicely. Dig holes, cover them, and bait the machine to chase you over them.

Just thoughts.

Don't think that will do much of anything unless they have completely exposed hydraulic tubing.

>But I'd try not being a criminal first
I was thinking more in a military context. When it's got to the point where police departments in the US are using kamikaze bomb robots I figure it won't be to far off before companies start attaching guns to the robots they already make and marketing them to any military or government agency that will buy them.

/v/ tier question here. Do EMP weaponry actually exists?
>>
>>30576547
You can make emp type devices but they generally are a bit bulky and have to almost be touching something but I haven't checked in a few years how things have progressed.
>>
>>30576057
If it wasn't for Deus Ex being so eerily accurate about some stuff and them actually recently using a robot to blow up that guy, I'd call you crazy.

Basically, I would say anything you would realistically use to attack a dude in a car or armored fighting vehicle like a hummer.

They are really only going to have so much armor, so if you have a FMJ/AP type load with a goodly rifle caliber that would work, probably. I mean, I can't see anything that's going to be running around in a building really having thicker armor than something like a hummer. Possibly thinner. And your battle rifle/hunting rifle type things seem to work on that.

And again, hypothetically (all of this is hypothetical obviously) an IED would almost certainly work. You'd want to aim for nasty little tricks like making it somewhat shaped like the dudes in Iraq did, but really just using a powerful blast would very possibly fuck up a lot of potential drones/kill bots.

Even if you didn't penetrate you might rattle some electronics, and very possibly break the sensor equipment.
>>
>>30575906
Hit it real fuckin' hard with a stick. Of course, anti-vehicle weapons and explosives would probably be a much better idea. Robots probably stand up to various landmines about as well as we do, and of course there's the eternal go-to of giant fuckin' bullets. If .50 BMG can take down minivans, I think it'll do fine versus the inevitable Terminators.

I am guessing penetration would be a priority, considering steel and aluminum are denser than flesh. Aim for the joints and any other structural weak spots.
>>
It seems to me the use of robots in combat isn't actually very useful is most situations. I think shots fired during a protest/riot situation would require a robot, but i feel it wouldnt be useful in a typical combat situation.

I may be wrong though.
>>
>>30575906
Fmjs and slugs, the robots are meant to eat bombs and be trashed or refurbished unlike the irreplacability of meat popsicles, just put rounds through the sensors, servos, and powerpacks; put high cal ammo through the combat armored shit and space it out with incendiaries

Are we talking remote controlled or autonomous? Almost anything remotely operated can be jammed. The jammer is also like a giant "bomb me" beacon so it's not something you want to keep on you. Jammer grenades would become popular fast. Range decreases exponentially with distance though so it's not going to help against UAVs, for that you'd need a directional antenna that can track objects (IIRC, satellite controlled UAVs run on the Ku band and don't use range hopping)
>>
>>30579893
>Slip on leaves
Generally leaves aren't strewn about a low friction surface where they can slide almost indefinitely before colliding with some other object.
I would probably guess that leaves DO make the bots slip (but not more than an inch or two), or there's enough weight behind the bot on soft terrain that it can 'dig in' a bit with each step

>Unarmored robots.
Anything that can kill a human should be able to cripple or kill an unarmored robot. Just like people, these robots have some delicate parts that they can't function without. As for dog sized robots, you probably couldn't hang plates off of them but they could easily carry around a couple layers of Kevlar "skin" that protects power supplies, computers, and vulnerable joints.

For that anything that punches through a Kevlar vest should suffice.

you can make a very basic and rudementary EMP Defice with a disposable camera. would not take much to up the scale, and possibly direct it into a beam to take them out at short range. though that short range would likely be much farther than the disposable camera device.
