Lol in his defense I've seen a few ammo places that ship flat rate and others who offer free shipping on all orders of a 1000 rounds or more.
Doesn't mean they aren't just manipulating the prices to cover the increased shipping costs, but it wouldn't be easily noticeable.
I've known that feel in the past OP, but this last time, this last time I lucked out. Saw PSA's 4th of July sale and figured it was the last major pro-gun holiday before the election and got some particularly reasonable prices.
When Dallas happened I finally had a sigh of relief for being ahead of the curve instead of having waited "just a bit longer for the price to drop a bit more" and been caught flatfooted.

I just pull up all the stores which I would consider ordering from, to include the few lowest priced per round, and any flat rate or free shipping ones, and then set up my order in all of them with shipping calculated. Whichever one has the final lowest price is the one that actually gets my money.
These companies won't ruse me with their crafty ploys, every dollar I save is another dollar I can spend on funs and ammo later.

Most online ammo stores do raise prices slightly, to a cap. A lot of online ammo stores have flat rates. The idea behind both concepts is to incentivize larger purchases by not hammering anuses over shipping.

I actually bought about 20k worth of S&W before the New Year, and at this point the same stock is worth about 32k now.
