I'm planning on buying an SKS. I know a bunch of different countries made the and I am also aware that quality and durability can change drastically between which country made them. What country made the best SKS and which country made the worse.
Expect prices to be a little higher.

This infographic is pretty accurate. I'd personally look for either Yugos or Russians, though those will be pricier. I wouldn't waste time or money on an export chinese model.
The models and order of desireability you'll be most worried about are, in order:
>Russian
>Yugo M59
>Chinese/Yugo M59/66.
Any of those three will be solid performers though. I love my M59/66, was my first gun and one of my current favorites to shoot.

Picked up my low-SN mostly matching Chinese Type 56 for $375. Pretty satisfied with it and think it was totally worth the price. Idk about the export models though.
Turns out they're still pretty decent combat weapons
If you want to get a good SKS you go with a Norinco

yeah you're in the ballpark, that should serve you well

Why do you want an SKS? If you just want to like Bubba fired I don't think it really matters. You want something historical go for a Russian or Chinese type 56.

I think v 1.5 is the latest one and that was from at least two years ago.
That said, the Romanian SKS should be more desirable to have than the Yugo given that it has a chrome bore.

>tfw missed out on weathered, beautifully patina'd Romy SKS with butter-smooth action
It showed up in a tiny LGS a few months after I got my Yugo. Just couldn't justify a second, though looking back, for the effort I had to put in to fix the issues my Yugo ran into I should've just seen if they'd have taken a trade.

Get a Yugo from CF.

About right. I got my Yugo from Classic for $420 with hand-pick. Looks unissued. Next one I buy will probably be a Type 56.
