I'll take 'Garage Builds' for $800, Alex.

In all seriousness though, if you don't mind buying used stuff or parts kits, you can usually undercut DSA's prices by building your own FAL or buying an FAL someone else has built themselves. FALfiles used to be great for that stuff, but these days I'd only ever buy parts kits from there, built rifles are getting to be like $1200 and up.

The market is already saturated with .223 guns. Saturated.

Youve got $400 poverty guns to $3000 gucci galore rifles and everything in between. Non AR .223 guns are locked into the $1500 to $2000 range, or they are shit.

If you want an FNC, your going to have to spend for one. Its going to be expensive because right before FA went no transfer, a ton of FNC auto sears came in. Most of the FNCs out there have been converted to FA.
>>
>>30575593

>>
>>30577261
Hell FN sellls SCAR 16's to LE Departments for $999 on routine sales. There are a lot of market forces that keep the rifles in that price range.

Most important of which, is that the consumer base has shown a willingness to spend that much money on a rifle. Unless a group comes in with a well tested, high quality product, opens up a US mfg facility and drops their wares for a grand or less, your going to continue to see new .223 non ARs for $1500-2000 + inflation.

Out performs both of its Real fuckin Grandpa rivals. The G3 squeezing a little more accuracy, with a hell of a lot harder recoil. The FAL type rifles are pretty light weight, extreme reliable, features an easily adjust gas system (you can just use your thumb lol)

It breaks down similar to an AR so its super easy to clean, not that will happen often, but lighting quick to field strip and clear.

Did I forget 30 round mags that are great quality, easy to find, and are under 29.99?

Compared to the other old timers, maybe.
Mine is an IMBEL kit on a forged IMBEL receiver, and with a mag loaded the damn thing weighs almost 13lbs with no accessories outside of my 3mm of paint.

I know DSA stuff is closer to 8 or 9lbs, but that's because they make liberal use of aluminium. Guns made of surplus shit are mostly steel; forged, stamped, or otherwise.

You're right about the reliability, though, and the gas system is super.
>>

BTW, Next surplus wave is going to be the thousands of Saturday Night Specials that are about to flood the market when an enterprising company recognizes they can buy them for 20-30 a piece and sell them for 70.

Of course a scar/w/e new nato flavor will beat a FAL in weight, but a FAL can be in service life for a much longer time. I won't bother proving my position on that, I'll just wait for time to.

"DSA are a little underpowered because it is the wrong diameter wire. Some say they just used a surplus spring from another rifle with their typical "close enough" attitude. They typically work, but the difference between a factory spring and a DSA is readily apparent.

Falcon are grossly underpowered - because it is the wrong material. The number one cause of failure in paras coming in my shop is Falcon springs. I told that f-cking idiot 8 years ago not to use stainless steel but he did anyway. Now he continues to rip off unsuspecting customers by dumping his defective garbage on them. STAINLESS SPRINGS ARE 30% WEAKER!!!!!!!

I have para recoil spring assemblies, used, IMBEL. $40. $8.50 ship. "

that makes the barrel rotate
If you clam onto the rear sight, there is no movement and you can do it at any angle

We would take the gas block and front sight off though

trolling and shilling aside, is there a better semi auto .308 in this price range? how about an ar 10?
>>
>>30572391
Parts kits are pretty much your only option.
>>
>>30579050
Is that a 5.56 FAL? Did you build it?
>>
>>30579643
308 ARs in the $1000 price range function just as well, but have no class

308 ARs are hardly battle rifles

They're for ARfags who feel insecure about 5.56, so they want something bigger, but they can't get off the AR dick to just get something differnt
>>
>>30575714
AR's literally created the 5.56 market autist. The only other gun to come close to competing with it in the civilian market WAS the mini 14.
>>

I said CHEAP ARs ruined the market, faggot
I don't give a shit about the origins
>>
>>30579699
You can share some parts like rails and grips between AR platforms though. Also more aftermarket parts.
>>
>>30579736
rails are only on the new Gen 2s from DPMS

Which cost a living fuck ton and are no longer in the $1000 price range
>>
>>30579589

>>
>>30579736
forgot to add to the last post

This is entirely true, but again, it's just not anything like the others
It's just an AR in a different, outdated caliber

You buy battle rifles for the Cold War appeal, not for an actual fighting weapon
>>
>>30578439
You do realize there are import bans specifically targeting Saturday night specials, don't you?
>>
>>30579760
that way of removing the front sight shroud over the barrel is kind of half assed, but whatever

We just replaced the sight altogether

The way they threaded it is exactly how we did it

You need to realize that I'm talking .010 runout
That's too much for a can
That's fine for a muzzle brake, but unacceptable if you want concentric threads for a can
>>
>>30578297
AR-10 is still better, and you can get modern magpul gucci mags for it.
>>
>>30579820

You bought the FAL the same way as the seller says that he's selling a Dragunov, when it is actually a PSL.

The gas tube is not even adjustable.
