Why doesn't /k/ talk about the SIG 510?

He calls it one of the best battle rifles ever made.

Pic related.

Why do you say that?
>>

Anything but a sig 556/xi is impossible to get in the US of A
>>
>>30568032
yes but he also calls it light, which the Stgw 57 definitly is not

They are good rifles, accurate and (in switzerland) very cheap
But from a soldiers perspective the G3 or FAL are superior simply because of their weight and price (the Stgw 57 was, at the time, the most expensive infantry rifle ever issued en masse to troops)
>>
>>30568066
The wood furniture is in the export version and the ones biult under license in chile.
Dont know if there is a aftermarked kid or something but i once saw a chilenian for sale. It was four times the price of a normal stgw57
>>
>>30568792
Yeah, but I was wondering if it's possible to put wood furniture like the AMT version on the normal Stgw 57. It would look extremely cool.
>>
>>30568843
the hand guard might work but the stocj probably won't unless you can find it complet with the recoil spring then there's a chance that it might work
but the chileans probably changed some minor measurements and loosend the tolerances so it can't interface with glorious swiss engineering
>>
>tfb tv

why should you buy this instead of something way more common like a FAL, or G3?

How do I check this and where are these cracks normally located?

Any other spot that I should check?

maybe the pistol grip or the heat shield on the barrel
Handguard and butt stock are made from hard rubber, they might be brittle but i've never seen one britteling

also I've read that you need a special permit to convert it to a commando version, why is that?
>>
>>30569124

Yes, but its not really a big deal. As always the SSV is overreacting.

>>

>also I've read that you need a special permit to convert it to a commando version, why is that?

Swiss law states that any former military rifle used by the Swiss army cannot be modified without a Ausnahmebewilligung.

As you are aware, SIG also made civilian versions of the Stgw 57 called PE57.

Since the PE57 is PURELY a civilian rifle you can make it into a commando version without any special permits. Only the STGW 57, and STGW 90 (or even any K31 or K11 for that matter) would need a Ausnahmebewilligung.

Same shit applies to the PE90 and Stgw 90.

That guy selling one at Gebrauchtwaffen.ch is a PE57 commando so you don't need a special permit.

Stgw 57s are all semi auto now and cost 300 CHF.

Tell me why I should get a G3 or a FAL that costs more than 1k and ammo is expensive along with mags and don't have the same type of quality and accuracy?
>>
>>30569577
if you live in switzerland
buy your stg 57

if you live anywhere else
buy a FAL or G3

nope

another plus point for G3 and FAL: aftermarket parts and accessories

This nigger cannot be serious. This rifle, used by an army that has never and doesn't really actually shoot people, doesn't hold a candle to something like the FAL that has been slogged through the mud by soldiers on every continent for the past half century or so.

I mean it is obscenely expensive and heavy. Also might be the most accurate battle rifle widely issued to a nation's army but a good chunk of that might be the Swiss ammo autism.

does it really count as OC if you can't load it or fire it to defend yourself?
