I think the seller used these really weak envelopes that just fell apart at the edge, because mine was worn/torn open and only had 2 patches in it when in fact I'd ordered 3. I think the paper just wore through and one fell out. Reinforce all edges with tape or use better envelopes I guess?

It would be somewhat difficult to embroider the aquilla with any reasonable amount detail at your average patch size.
I'm not too well versed with Warhammer lore, so I don't know how important it is that the aquilla be there, but if possible I'd say either try placing it towards the upper circle segment or removing it completely if it doesn't seem like it'd fit well there.

"Hook and loop" is the non-copyrighted way of saying Velcro, since Velcro is an actual brand.
Iron-on means that it has, basically, hot glue on the back that melts when you iron it onto something. If you pick up some hook-side velcro strips, you could sew an iron-on patch to velcro yourself.

Alright, so I've been doing the thread on /tg/ for a few days now to see if there's interest in buying 40K patches. I know GW is C&D happy, so I've been mulling it over and I think I've come up with a plan and would like hear y'alls opinion on it.
So basically the plan that came to mind was crowdfunding sites. Probably GoFundMe, but possibly KickStarter, for a thing called the Gun/K/lub. Basically it will, in name, be a club that people make pledges to become "members" and receive an "exclusive, mystery item" that will allow them to be identified by other members and allow access to the /K/lub.
Now in reality, I'll be selling them 40K themed patches AT COST. This is important, because it will hopefully give me a little bit of padding in case somehow a C&D finds it's way to the /K/lub itself. Hell, I might actually start a gunclub and get to shoot stuff and make sweet patches. But I'm getting ahead of myself.
I will put the patch artwork ArtAnon has made discreetly in a drawthread or something, while creating a thread on /tg/ to discuss "club matters". It will basically serve as an anchor for the image. Or I might just post it here and find some way to herd fa/tg/uys here to see it.
So not only is this a secret squirrel way to make patches using the IP of an incredibly litigation happy company, but will also guarantee that I won't be dropping a lot of money for patches that won't get sold. I intend to eat the digitization cost (it's only $12 for the current patch run) and possibly add $0.40-$0.60 for shipping in the US ( unless that's too low or too high, I don't really know). That way, only patches that the community as a whole pays for will get made, so I won't have 100 odd patches lying around. I don't intend to make money off of this, I just want to make some sweet ass patches to wear, and to share with you guys and my other 4chan home, /tg/.
So, let me know what you think. Rip it apart, tell me how dumb I am, suggest an alternate route, anything is helpful.

Also, another idea we were mulling about was basing Guard Regiment patches off of IRL military units and their patches, to give off their specialization and such.
For example, Elysian Droptroops. I found the FFL para badge, and if you replaced the star with a skull and the parachute with some other Imperial device, I imagine it could be made to be pretty 40K. Put The Regiment name and number on it and you're good to go.
Basically is that stupid? And if not, since you guys are better versed than I with real world patches, could I get some assistance for other Regiments? Catachan Jungle Fighters for one, Armageddon Steel Legion, 13th Penal Legion, and possibly Tanith 1st and only, Cadians, and Kreigers, just to look at and mull over.

It's not really crowdfunding. You're paying for a patch under the guise of crowdfunding. The "/K/lub" doesn't really exist, and even if it does in the future, that'll be of my own doing with people locally, not /k/ or /tg/. It could give me a little extra padding against litigation if I had an actual organization to back it up.
