Those things are fucking great for guys like me who know machining and want something AP.
The cast iron slugs were grenading but the solid copper, steel and other high density metal slugs were remaining solid, so they're great for AP.
And since the design is your basic slug, they're easily machined on a lathe.
Fuck, I'd love to get my hands on a couple hundred of those and just start fucking around with the design. Can you imagine solid copper, hardened steel penetrator tip 12 gauge slugs that penetrate through body armor and expand like a RIP hollow point?
Shit, I don't really care for shotguns at all but if you make the slugs shape more conical, and throw the slugs down a rifled barrel, you'd get a decently accurate shotgun, that acts more like a bolter, that can hit out to at least 200 meters with ease, that also defeats body armor and wounds quite well.

But truth be told, if I knew I could get away with the testing and not have to worry about the ATF flash banging my forcefully adopted african daughter, I'd love to machine longer hollowpoint Slugs that'd fit in a 12 gauge 3.5" shell, and see if I could nig rig myself some 12 gauge raufoss rounds using tannerite and potassium chlorate, tannerite being the secondary explosive, probably mixed with an oxidizer for the potassium chlorate, which would act as the primary explosive. Make the walls of the shell hard enough, but a brass tip, something soft enough to halt the inertia of the penetrator which would ignite the chlorate, and detonate the tannerite.

There would be a hardened sabot penetrator, one that'd cover the flanging that expand once the penetrator has pushed the slug through the armor, that'd push back into the slug, and cause the flanges to expand into a rip round.
I'd have to draw it in order to give an accurate description and I have no idea if it'd work, and if it did, how well?
I'm thinking along the lines of how gold dot 9mm looks when it's done expanding, only applied to a 12 gauge RIP body.

I really hate the AR15s T-handle. It was the reason I've been put off for so many years on buying/building one. It's honestly a matter of my own weird personal preference. I just find it unwieldy, and since there are more ergonomic options out there, I might as well use them.
With a side charging upper it's like an AK, 550, 10/22, or literally any other rifle that doesnt use that retarded fucking T handle. Also, it eliminates the need for a forward assist, which makes the profile of the rifle a bit flatter, something I like for some weird reason.

My comment was in reference to the picture, one taken by a guy who machined slugs from 7 different metals, cast iron, brass, copper, steel and shit like that.
The slugs themselves were exploding into shrapnel once they left the barrel, due to the metal being unable to handle the pressure created inside the round from the gas trapped inside thanks to it's cup like shape, which would then be able to expand once the slug escaped the barrel, as it was no longer being held together by the barrel.
tldr
Slugs were shaped like cups, when shot would trap a shit ton of high pressure gas, cast iron being shitty caused slugs to asplode when they left the barrel as it stopped reinforcing the slug which made it unable to handle the pressure.

The penetrator would likely get through, but nothing else. Generally if it expands it won't make it through armor. The lead and copper is just there to act like a hammer. Also RIP is dogshit.
