Has the ATF come out with a new form 1 yet? My friend is looking to fill out some stamps after 41f and he wants to fill out the forms now but I wasn't sure if it would be possible to send off the pre 41f forms after July 13th. I'm also interested in doing the same but I can't seem to find any new forms yet. Also QTDDTOT

If I can't find a small enough set screw for the rear sights of my pistol could I just put red or blue locktite inbetween the cracks and call it a day? I used a hammer and punch to get the rear sights in so it's pretty snug in there right now.
>>
>>30552822

No, but yes. Don't expect it to last on a big gun.
>>
>>30552822
Pretty much this >>30552832
I would recommend blue locktite so its not as permanent as red and can be removed with enough heat.
>>
What will happen if I don't have a CCL and I'm caught carrying? Specifically?

What kind of crime is it, are they gonna throw me in prison, take my guns, ban me from ever purchasing/carrying?

I live in the USA, RI to be specific
It's shall issue here, up to the police chief and basically no one gets one unless they are law enforcement, security, or work at a LGS
>>
So I just received my nitrided bcg that I ordered from Aim Surplus today for my first 80% build.

Looks pretty good, but the gas key staking seems a bit light.

Could I use a vise and some thin hard steel wire to press the material and stake the bolts that way?

I don't want to take a hammer and punch and just smash the shit out of hardened steel plus I've heard doing that can damage the threads.

And I don't want to pay $70 and wait for the Brownell's staking tool.
>>
>>30553237
>shall issue
>up to the police chief and basically no one gets one unless they are law enforcement, security, or work at a LGS

That doesn't sound like shall issue, that sounds like California-tier "may issue." Shall issue generally means they are required to issue one to you if you don't have any red flags like felonies and the like.

My best advice is to move to a different state, I can't comment on your communist laws, sorry m8.
>>
>>30553237
Just check your concealed weapons laws m8. In my state (VA) its a felony to conceal without a permit. Also if its shall issue then they should automatically give it to you unless you can't own guns from my understanding of shall issue.

Just googled your state you are not shall issue you're a may issue state.
>>
>>30553322
>>30553337

Then it's may issue-my mistake. I seem to have gotten them confused

Actually upon looking it up it said Shall issue for Attorney General, and May issue for local police.

But I know for fact that they will deny it if you don't have "good reason" to have it. I've looked up the process a few months ago, it involves getting local city council signature, three references and basically an essay as to why you need it

>"...if it appears that the applicant has good reason to fear an injury to his or her person or property or has any other proper reason for carrying a pistol or revolver, and that he or she is a suitable person to be so licensed."

I really don't wanna move, I love my state
>>
>>30553452
Lemme just put this here

http://www.providenceri.com/efile/829

This is the part that gets me

A letter must be submitted by all applicants stating a good or proper reason why a permit should be issued
and why the applicant is a suitable person to be licensed. Included in this letter must be a detailed explanation
as to how the applicant plans to properly secure his or her firearm so that it does not fall into unauthorized
hands. All letters must be original and dated. The City of Providence will not accept a photocopy of any letter
or signature.
* A letter of recommendation by all three references must be submitted by all applicants stating a good or
proper reason why a permit should be issued and why the applicant is a suitable person to be licensed. Included
in this letter must be the length of time the reference has known the applicant and an explanation as to the
nature of the relationship. All letters must be original, signed and dated. The City of Providence will not accept
a photocopy of any letter or signature.

I've got a personal experience question for y'all. M&P Shield vs Glock 43. I own neither and I'm looking for a CC fun. I've narrowed it down to these two and it's hot where I live so lighter clothing concealed would be preferable. I've heard good things about both. But whats your opinion?

Just purchased a Ruger 10/22 carbine non-takedown (store didn't have one sadly). Can u recommend ammo, a good cleaning kit, and a good case? Also a good deal on some cheap 25 round mags would be awesome.

I bought some cheap .22lr cartridges at the store, made by Auto Match, 325 rounds for 30 bucks. I heard from u guys the 10/22 will take pretty much anything, but will these rounds fuck up my gun? Thanks so much in advance /k/, first gun ever.
>>
>>30553984
Youll be fine with pretty much everything. Its not recommended for stingers which if i remember correctly is slightly longer than regular shells they are also more expensive. Pretty much any cleaning kit and case too it hard to mess up. I recommend using bx25 magazines in my experience they are more reliable.
Pretty much you can get away with buying the cheapest stuff you can find for those things you listed.

I have a legal question. This is the empty golf course behind my apartment complex, I wanted to use my air rifle as in pellet rifle there, would people call the cops I just want to shoot empty cans and beer bottles laying around. Is it legal? If the cops do get called can I get out of it by telling them it's a toy? Or will I get arrested? I live in arizona. Gun laws are sort of confusing to me

>>30555072
it's second degree criminal trespass just for you to be there without permission if anyone cares enough to call the cops about it, but they aren't too concerned about pellet guns in az.

So I just found a bore snake in my house. I know what it's used for, which is cleaning the bore of firearms.

That being said, I have never bought a bore snake in my life. I'm more of a patch & jag kind of guy. Nobody else in this house owns firearms, just me.

What non-firearms use do bore snakes have?

What are NEF/H&R 12ga Pardners going for in your area? I've been looking for one to bastardize into pic related so I can carry it on my motorcycle easier but finding one is a pain in the ass. Out of 3 gun stores and no less then 8 pawn shops only one had one. They are asking $99.99+tax but are willing to go to $79.99 if I pay cash.

I've heard in other areas of the county you can pick them up for as little as $59 but all the online auctions and storefronts have high enough shipping fees (+ffl costs) that ordering one from another area seems like a loss.

Should I just buy the damn thing and hope that another one pops up eventually for a better price? There are still a couple of pawnshops and a couple of gun stores I haven't been to but I have low expectations that I'll find a single barrel break-open.
>>
>>30554355
Thanks m80 I wish it was easier to find.
>>
>>30556113
Convert, it is a sign from the serpent lord.

Try the bore snake. It is the greatest tool ever. You can never get a bore 100% clean with a patch and jag. You can get a bore spotless with a snake in a few seconds.

Not to mention a snake easier on the bore than a metal rod banging up on the insides of the muzzle.

Anyone ever heard of weaponizing (used/empty) CO2 powerlets? They are the tiny co2 tanks for some airguns.

Ideally, I'd want to fire them as a projectile, and I was thinking that I could exploit their high pressure nature to temporarily repressurize them until near high end, and them let them launch somewhat self-propelled.

I have heard of them being used to make blasting caps for larger explosives, but that's a bit boring to me.

I bought a Lee Enfield a little while ago, and although it seems to be in great condition in every other way, it turns out it has a rusty chamber.

The bore itself looks great, but cases are really hard to extract and have a lot of visible bumps on them where they've filled in the pitting.
The rust only seems to be in the bottlenecked section of the chamber.

Is there any way to fix it, or have I been sold a lemon?

>>
>>30568561
>What should I expect from the buying process?

Irrational nervousness as you drive it home in your vehicle

As a rule department stores know nothing beyond what's printed on the box of the gun and gun store people may have knowledge beyond the obvious but they might also be a fudd or have some other dumb opinions.

>Which one is more user friendly
Gun store people are friendlier and can be expected to know about all the popular brands and models. If you were like me when I had autism and bought my first gun I felt the crushing weight of the gun store counter monkey's knowledge as he watched me handle the gun I was buying so I never felt comfortable doing anything while holding it or any other gun while in the store. Now I don't even think about it if I finger fuck the latest and greatest as the register biscuit stares on. I never felt that way in a big box store or department store as most are low 20s wage slaves that are lucky to know more than you.

>Is there some kind of etiquette to buying a gun?
You want to get a good look at it, even if its new and test everything on it, save the trigger if its a rimfire. Don't muzzle anyone while you do it.

Is there something about Ruger and Remington that I should know about?

A lot of people sing praises about these two makes, but their guns are stupid-cheap. How can something be really good and really affordable?

Given similar specs, a firearm from another make would be much higher priced. So if Ruger or Remington is selling it for $500, some other company is selling a comparable gun for over $1200.

How are they able to keep prices low?
>>
>>30568901
Remington got bought out by a conglomerate in 2004. They aren't really Remington anymore, just a branch of a larger corporation wearing Remington's skin. The quality of their civilian offering has gone in the shitter.

multiple questions here

i have an old 9mm beretta 92 something. its at least 20 years old, the mag release is at the bottom of the 'handle' ffs. anyone know off the top of their head if magazines for newer 92fs's will fit?

how much 9mm and 7.62x39 ammo for innawoods/habbenings? how many loaded mags? drum mags worth it? body armor? bayonet necessary? all of the above are things im considering and willing to spent on over time. already starting my 9mm stockpile

Someone told me an AR chambered in .223 is more powerful than a "normal" rifle in the same caliber. Is this true or is that just anti bs? Are certain guns in the same caliber more powerful than others?
>>
>>30571570
Please never buy a gun. The rifle does absolutely nothing but deliver the round accurately. The round itself will be the same regardless of what platform it comes from. A SAW and a M4 are equally as powerful because they use 5.56, one just shoots faster and more than the other.
>>
>>30571570

If anything, it's less powerful, because a portion of the energy is used to cycle the action.
>>
>>30571570
The only thing that will have any real impact on how powerful the round is is barrel length. And even there you need to match the gunpowder to the barrel length for best effect.

The sight post isnt the issue, its the entire sight itself. Drunk ivan put it on slightly crooked and it is driving me fucking nuts. Theres a marking on it too that shows where the sight post needs to be to be zeroed so it definitely came out of the factory this way. Do you want a rifle or a handgun? Home defense or personal defense?

About the only pistol I would recommend for that price range is a P-64 but it uses 9x18 makarov which can be hard to get sometimes as you have to choose between cheap surplus or expensive defense rounds but you can CC it easily. You could get a Hi-point for less than 200 but it has the drawback of being a hi-point. If you take extra special care of it, use the right ammo, and buy a good aftermarket magazine or two for it a Hi-point can be mostly reliable.

A rifle I would recommend is is the Ruger 10/22 or the Marlin model 60 .22lr is still relatively cheap and plentiful. You might be able to find someone getting rid of a 12g shotgun near that price range too.

Honestly, if I were you I would at least try to afford something near the $300 price range as your options open up considerably, and fear buying isn't helpful.

I'm building an AR with an older style hand guard (not a free float rail) and I'm having trouble with the barrel nut. I got it on tighened past 35 ft-lbs of torque, and it was just where one of the teeth was starting to get in the way. I tried going up to the next notch, but it wouldn't turn far enough. This may have been more of a problem with my cheapo vise attached to my desk than with the wrench or anything, but I'm pretty sure the torque is at about 50-60 ft-lbs which is about what it's supposed to be. But the nut tooth is still blocking the gas tube hole. So I'm looking at this and thinking that the inner surface of the nut is what holds it onto the receiver. The lockup between the bolt and the receiver extension is what contains the pressure of firing. If I were to just dremel off the edge of the tooth that's in the way, to get my gas tube in, would my gun asplode? I feel like it wouldn't. This is just an el cheapo build, so if it looks shitty but is safe to fire, I'm not that concerned with it. Input?

i don't know much about firearms but i think i'm looking for a SA/DA or SA lightweight compact 9mm for pocket carry i'm looking at the Sig P938 are there any others i should consider? any like the Sig P938 but lighter?
>>
Planning to carry two guns -in case of malfunction, for more ammunition, and to arm a second person if possible thus increasing odds. Guns will have to be small and compact in order to comfortably carry both at all times, every day. No extra mags needed since the combined capacity should be enough. Pocket gun (front left pocket .380) can be DAO because it would be faster to fire without thinking or worrying about where the hammer is or about where the safety is. Second pistol would be carried in middle of my pants with urban carry holster and would be a small 9mm. This would be the second option after using the first, either after emptying the first gun at enemies or after a possible malfunction or if applicable, arming a second person. This gun could be SA/DA or SA without as much concern for me. Does this sound silly? Looking specifically at the P-3AT kel tec or ruger lcp custom for the .380 pocket carry and between Sig P938 or Ruger LC9s Pro or kahr PM9 for the 9mm (i'll overlook that the Kahr PM9 is a DAO because besides that, it seems so nice)

>>
>>30580609
Where do you work? Honestly its fucking dumb to carry 2 guns on person for most people different for cops. You should carry your main CC which ever you pick and an extra mag if you have room and then if you work in an office or something similar just off body carry a second gun in a small backpack/briefcase/messenger bag along with other useful job and shtf stuff like basic FAK, few protein bars, flashlight, knife, water and whatever else. Or just carry your main CC and leave a second in your vehicle. The main issue is it'll get old as fuck carrying 2 guns because the chance of you needing one is slim enough and you'll stop very quickly. Only really had experience with lc9 and no real complaints so I can't chime in much on that.
>>
>>30572609

walmart in the south, pretty sure its against policy but even if coworkers found out they would be super chill about it. I'm not afraid to carry to work but i'm moving to get some work at a warehouse in tulsa which should be no problem. Only problem with all of this is that i have a road bike that i ride around town. Would pocket carry still be an option or can i use something like a urban holster for directly in front of pants? I really don't want to have to keep it in my backpack while riding. Bike riding by the way, would be very light considering i'll be using the bus system as well.
>>
>>30580737
depends mostly on what you wear will dictate if you can pocket carry. I can't answer that
>>
>>30580737 here
>>30580696

this is all why it was most important for very lightweight guns. Altogether it would weigh only 27oz altogether for both the P-3AT kel tec and kahr PM9 both loaded. Only and ounce difference than just the Glock 26 for example
>>
>>30580788 here
but in this instance instead of one "heavy" gun, i can spread the weight a bit with my method. Is this such a terrible tactic?
>>
>>30571610
Please never give advice. It's a legitimate question for someone new to guns that hears everything spouted from antis and fudds.
>It's like you want more people to hate guns and shun gun ownership by making it into a rude club, you unsocialized ass.
>>
>>30580788
kek you didn't have to tell me who you were. It's not just about weight its about size too. Again you can do whatever you want and don't have to justify yourself. You will quit carrying them though if you try to carry multiple guns. Sure it weighs however much but most people won't even carry a glock 26 because it's too big/heavy.
>>30580850
Again most people won't even carry their CC all the time.
The goal of a CC gun for most people should be to in order of importance assuming that its already reliable: carriable all the time, easy to hit with, acceptable capacity, acceptable caliber, comfortable to shoot.
Your CC is not your SHTF gun. Your EDC is not your SHTF load out. Your CC is a <7ft distance 1v1 gun.
If you don't carry all the time then there is just about no point in getting a carry gun at all.

If anything pick up the smaller CC gun of the possible 2 you feel the need to carry and start with that.

Additional points to consider.
I live in Virginia, it get hot as fuck here, probably the same were you live. Your not going to be able to carry 2 guns without printing in most pairs of shorts.
Since you don't seem to possess a vehicle and ride public trans/bike carrying two guns will be significantly more of a hindrance than if you had a vehicle because you have to be able to conceal them your whole commute/travel time with people around.

>>30580942
thanks for your input bro, i don't know anything about firearms. i'm not sure if it would bother me as much if the weight is split. like if you could cut that glock in half and spread the weight evenly throughout your body it wouldn't have near as much of an impact. i really want to believe that i could pull this off and not have a problem. I really don't want to ever have to buy any other guns besides these and i'll have both ammo sizes covered in case of ammo price problems down the line. (besides all of this i plan on eventually building an ar-15 in case of catastrophic emergency mode)

Out of curiosity what is the U setting on VZ-58 sights for? I've heard some folk say it's supposed to be a universal setting so you don't adjust sights between targets from 100 to 200 meters but that doesn't sound right at all considering how high up the setting puts the sights.

Right now I'm kinda thinking it's some kind of 25 meters setting assuming your sights are zero'd at 100 meters.

So how screwed am I if I have a 20 inch barrel on my upper in a SHTF or home-defense scenario?

Everything I read online tells me that 16 inch (or 14.5+1.5 muzzle break) is optimal for home defense and SHTF, but I am just so in love with the original 20 inch design.
>>
>>30584935
At the ranges of home defense, a 10 inch barrel would be plenty. At those ranges you want maneuverability, the loss in muzzle velocity will mean very little to you.

As short as you can go is the answer.
>>

If you can cc and don't have a gun I recommend that. Also if you have a reason for an optic like shooting yotes or something I would argue for that. If not consider buying a form 1 suppressor stamp and just hold on to your money for now.
>>
>>30585083
>I think I remember reading somewhere that an AR pistol or SBR upper has to have a dedicated lower for said upper, so I'd have to do a complete build, right (i.e., can't just swap uppers)?
The ATF tends to frown upon it because otherwise selling SBR uppers would make it too easy to circumvent their little tin-pot dictator rules.
>>
>>30585083
You can't just put an AR pistol upper on a rifle lower, no. You would have to get an SBR and go through the hoops.

If 16 inches is as short as you can go, which it is for non-NFA, that's what I'd do for a rifle. That's speaking with legal concerns in mind. If you were willing to do NFA and thinking only about practicality, a 10.3 barrel would be the way to go.

You could just be a weirdo a do an AK pistol or something for maximum shortness in a rifle caliber.
>>
If I get accepted to a US college what are the chances I can get a job and stay there? Is a permanent resident visa the only one that I can buy guns with?
>>
>>30553237
Man, that sucks, and would make me nervous as hell about carrying when it could get you a felony charge and forever preclude you from even owning one at home in the future.
I say it's a bad idea to carry illegally, period. Find a legal way. You're carrying for self defense - and when you need to use it, you're basically setting yourself up to get charged yourself, so the self defense better be 100% worth it. In the meantime, you get pulled over at a traffic stop or run into trouble of some other kind and it gets found on you, you're screwed.
Some ideas: see if your state has an exception for "antique firearms" that makes carrying replicas not require a permit. Then find out whether that extends to concealed carry or just open carry or both. Then pick yourself up a replica Remington 1858 from Cabela's for $300 and get familiar with it.
Depending on the state, this can be a defensive option, but it's less than ideal.
If you fill out the forms and are denied (write a letter to the police chief, get denial in writing), you may be in *slightly* better shape if you end up having to use it. Sure, you're going to get arrested, but maybe - just maybe - your attorney can work a "necessity" defense for you with the right facts and a lot of money.

buy a trained one from a kennel or hire a trainer if you get a young puppy, it requires a lot of knowledge to do correctly.

You should also know that dogs trained to hunt don't typically make good pets.

What the fuck is wrong with my SAA?

None of the shots I've actually fired from it show off-center strikes, but ever since the last time I cleaned it I've had difficulty pulling the hammer back every few shots.

It doesn't jam if there's nothing in it, but loading empty brass or snap caps causes it to lock up every couple shots just before the second notch.

Das a good deal, assuming you really want a mini-14 and not an AR.

I've got 3 AR's already, looking for another rifle in the same caliber. Thanks pal

Hoping someone can answer this before tomorrow. I'm going shooting in Maine and want to bring my new AK. I put this Dynacomp on it but it doesn't tighten all the way down so it wobbles a bit. Is it safe to shoot if it wobbles? How do I fix this preferably without going to a gun smith?

There's a spring loaded pin above the barrel which lines up with a notch in the muzzle brake. It doesn't allow me to tighten it to a point where it's flush and solid.

Everything I read about their gear makes it sound respectable, but holy shit has anyone ordered from them? Their website is like straight out of the late 90s. Can't make an account and check invoices, no email confirmation, nothing has posted to my account. It's like a black hole of information. Has anyone done business with them before?

I think that's a 92s. A bunch of those hit the surplus market a year or more ago. I belive they will take fs's mags, but you need to modify them.

There should be a bunch of youtube videos on this.

Buy now, the shit isn't going to get any cheaper the closer we come to the election.

Hi-point for a handgun

Hawk982 for a shotgun: https://www.classicfirearms.com/hawk-12-ga-978-pump-3inch-black-poly

A rifle will be tough. Check pawnshops. Try and get something not in 22lr if possible.

Since you said you don't know much, I'd recommend you look into revolvers, also. Simple, reliable and doesn't take as long to master as a semi-auto.

There is nothing wrong with the Sig P226. If you want it, buy it. The only time I'd tell you not to buy it is if you said it was your concealed carry piece or something.

>they will have maximum parts and ammunition compatibility
Pay attention to this. AR15s have saturated the market. As a practical matter, all Americans should own one, at least a very basic bitch $500 model. .223/5.56 is the most common intermediate caliber in the US

Nope, I have a Shield for my carry piece which I'm content with. The Sig will be for the collection, range fun, and any time I'm either open carrying (innawoods) or don't have to worry about printing (winter parka carry)
>>
>>30592131
Go ahead and buy it then.

>The nylon strap has been determined legal as a "strap or sling".

ATF also considered these to be a foregrip, really just come down to who you piss off.
>>
Nogunz idiot here. Are there any revolver carbines that can be used both as both pistol and carbine? A modular carbine if you will where you can remove the long barrel and stock.
>>
I'm looking for a new barrel for a .40 USP. My original barrel has served me well, but it's literally so shot out after so many years that it's now a smooth bore. I use literally in the correct sense here.

https://www.hkparts.net/shop/pc/USP-Compact-40-Tactical-Threaded-Barrel-9-16-X-24-263p16707.htm

I've found this. Yay or nay?
>>
>>30594089
Not if you value your dogs.
>>
>>30594089
No, because removing the long barrel from a rifle creates a "short barreled rifle" which, according to the dumbshit ATF is as bad/evil as creating a nuclear bomb in your basement.

Is a Glock a good 9mm to get if I don't like DA/SA and want a consistent trigger pull?
>>
Should I buy a fullsize pistol or a compact (eg Glock 17 vs 19)?

I don't intend to conceal it, but instead use it as a nightstand gun and for punching paper and potentially some competition.
