Any idea what kind of gun this is lads? Was wondering if i should take it to get appraised
Forgot to mention, it appears to be some kind of hammer firing 12 gauge shotgun

Picture from above? A close up of the action open would be nice.

Looks like a sporterized Snider-Enfield, .577 Snider.

Heres one from the front

Yeah, that's a Snider-Enfield, the side hinged breach gives it away

What he said, not a shotgun, an old black powder rifle. Cool shit, they converted muzzleloader to breechloader.
In that appreciated condition, maybe $500 to the right buyer. Most collectors want a full stock, and they're very hard to find ammo for.

Sporterized* not appreciated... damn my phone.
Op here, could it be the snider mark 2? The part the hammer hits looks more similar

That's beyond my knowledge, ask Google. I've always been a bigger fan of the Allin conversions the Americans made.
Nvm, you're right i believe its a snider-enfield. My dad might bring it to the antiques roadshow

Exactly this. That's my glawk 40

it's a zulu shotgun, an investor group thought it would be a great idea to buy a bunch of surp french rifles, convert them to 12 gauge and sell them to zulus. turned out zulus didn't have any money. so they sold them to american colonists.

Heh, 100 shells cost more than the gun...

Seems like it.

its not a snider, that is not a snider breechblock, or an enfield action.
this is a snider enfield sideplate.
>>30551990
on the bright side it's pretty easy to load blackpowder shells for it. much easier to come up with than .577 snider
i'll not burden you with how much i last paid for one.
and this is a snider breechblock.
>>30552072
full rounds, i'd say $8 if .577 brass, $5 if 24ga magtech.
Sweet gun, here's mine:

I believe that these guns were originally Trabatiere rifles. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabati%C3%A8re_rifle
I have a Snider MKIII and the actions do differ but not by much. You can notice some French script on my lockplate that is still legible. Never bothered to check out what it meant.
I picked up mine for under $200. I reload Magtech 2.5" shells with black powder and homemade wads.
Be very careful with old guns like these...Smokeless might not be safe. I don't even chance it.
Beast of a shotgun man. Makes fire, a boom, smoke and sparks every time you pull the trigger.
