Howdy /k/ommandos, so I have a good amount of 7.62x39 and am in the market for a new long gun. Any non-AK suggestions? Already have a 74 (5.45 is expensive nowadays). I've been looking about and a PTR seems like an interesting choice, but I want to hear your suggestions.

If you hate expensive ammo don't get a PTR. 35 cents/cartridge is the cheapest you'll find .308. The rifle is heavy. If you aren't muscular your support arms will likely fatigue quickly. And you might want to invest in an optic too because the sighting on the PTR is funky, or at least mine is.

You can go with the PTR, or the SIG 556r. There's also some CZ bolt actions but that's all I got.
