I'm really looking into buying a Type 99 but all the ammo is absurdly expensive and I don't have the set up to reload, are there any cheaper brands than norma for $2 a shot?
>>
>>30548041
Nope.
>>
>>30548041
No.you're fucked of you dont roll your own, which is something you should be doing anyway.if you cant afford to shoot why own it for other than display purposes

Fuck I wish I was alive when the ammo was cheap and available then
>>
>>30548155
It never was. Maybe a bit cheaper than now, but only because of inflation (or lack thereof). Japanese ammo has never been readily available here for a decent price.
>>
>>30548041
no, and even 2 dollar a shot ammo is hard enough to find. if you want to regularly shoot your type 99 you will need to reload for it
>>
>>30548184
i think he means like back in the 60s when you just bought your garands out of barrels at the hardware store
>>
Reloading is fucking fun and gives you more time with your funs. Get a cheap press on ebay and you are away. And Kommando worthy of the name is more than happy to help.
>>
>>30548041
Graf and Sons has a variety.

>don't reload
>hardly shoot type 99 and type 38 due to ammo cost
>never once put a round through my 1892 berthier
>7.5 swiss is rare
>don't even try to find ammo for the Swedish rolling block

I WANT C&R GUNS BUT I CAN'T FUCKING SHOOT THEM ARRRRRRRRRG
>>
>>30552116
>I am willingly fucking myself
>LET'S COMPLAIN ABOUT IT

Time to stop being a puss and reload.
>>
>>30552116
Nigga I have 100rds of Norma 7.7jap and fucking 20 rounds of .577- 450 Martini Henry

its out there, just gotta look. Or reload
>>
w2c 7.7jap bullets for reloading?

thinking of buying three boxes and reloading those
>>
>>30552166
You type like a moron, but I think you are asking what bullets to use?

Midway has a selection of .311 bullets.
>>
>>30548184
>>30548227
they dumped all the surp ammo in the ocean at the end of the war
>>
>>30552116
Then reload blanco. I haven't bought factory ammo (except 22wmr) in 2 years.

just shoot 8mm mauser in it
>>
>>30552116
With that many snowflake calibers, you need to reload. You can get started for under $300.
>>
>>30548041
>don't even have a 7.7 Jap rifle
>still have dies and like 45 cases prepped and ready to go
>>
>>30552166
Midway, Grafs have .311 bullets.
>>
>>30552298
arisakas have the strongest action out of all the service rifles during ww2, i forgot the exact pressure they could handle but it was some insane large amount
>>
>>30552305
>you can get started for under $300

thats nice but how long would those cheap setups take? how time consuming would it be to reload 100 rounds of 8mm lebel in a sub-$300 setup?

yep, graf and sons. PPU brass contract loaded by hornady for G&S. Currently OOS but $1.50 per round
>http://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/category/categoryId/239?
Ive never tried PCI, but for $1.40, id give it a go
>>
>>30552655
Takes some time to get used to everything. If you had a friend who knew how to reload and walked you through everything then everything would come along quicker.

If you're starting by yourself, it's gonna take time to set your bench up, and get your powder scale set up, dies set up. After that, with a single stage press, after cases are prepped and primed, you can knock out a round every 30 seconds or less.
>>
>>30553476
I can load 100 prepped cases in 30 mins on my single stage.

Practice makes perfect.
>>
>>30552655
About 30 minutes. Maybe less if you have an efficient layout. I can get about 300 rounds an hour if I don't have any hang ups.
>>
A huge bulk of Japanese milsurp, ended up in the ocean at the end of the war.

Tokyo harbor is littered in the swords, pistols and rifles of the Japanese military, that was in Japan during the surrender.
>>
>>30552116

What compelled you to buy that bizarre mix of guns?
>>
>>30552116
>7.5 swiss is rare
Nigga what? A new shipment of GP11 came in a couple months ago and Privi makes decent reloadable brass you have no fucking excuse not to shoot your mountain jew rifle
>>
>>30552298
that's frighteningly a semi-common practice, the bullets are stretched out when recovered.

OP here I will not shoot my turkish 8mm through a Type 99 for the love of christ it feels as if the K98 is having a hard enough time eating it
>>
>>30553723
>japgus because of the action, and rising storm
>french guns are interesting, and I like the look of the berthier
>everyone loves swiss guns
>wanted a rolling block but didn't want to buy a expensive reproduction

I have other c&r like mosins ,mauser enfield but I can shoot those more often
>>
>>30548041
is the 7.7 Jap a decent round?
