.45ACP doesn't really recoil harsher than 9mm, just differently.
It's a matter of taste, both work just as well, and really, for carry, as long as you have 5 or more rounds, you're pretty much good.

I got a USP 45 for $530. It was used in great condition with holster wear. Had the box, paperwork and 1 mag. Apparently the previous owner tried to CC it for a month and it became a safe queen until he moved.
The guy at the shop said it was unfired but I doubt it. It's accurate, I can CC it with a jacket and has literally never jammed at the range. Even the shitty promags I got for $20 apiece work flawlessly.
