What actually makes one an "Operator"?
Is it a mindset? A standard of equipment?
Is it just being accepted into the right kind of club?
1) Do you do shit like this for a living

According to /k/'s autist someone in SF who never fired a weapon at an enemy is an operator, while a combat proven Infantryman or combat arms is not.

Agree, the green SF recruit isn't operator, but neither is your plain joe eleven bang bang, no matter how many tours he's been on.
He's pulling guard and running patrols, sure, but no number of those equates to operator shit.
- Equipment to handle your job, training to handle it and ability to work if shit goes wrong with equipmet
- combat experience
- be able to do grunt shit beyond point and shoot
Many infantrymen qualify to be operators if they fight enough in my book

This

It's a skillset. That's it. That's all that separates SOF folks from each other and the larger forces they reside in. It might take a certain mindset, equipment and ability to gain said skillset, but in the end it's all schooling.
-basic/advanced infantry
-airborne
-mountain schools
-dive schools
-demo schools
-terminal attack and air control schools
-CQB/CQC schools
-Advanced combat schools
-Recon schools
-Scout and sniper schools
-Breaching schools
-Intelligence schools
-Language and culture schools
-Hostage rescue schools
-Medical schools
-Freefall and HALO schools
-SERE schools
-Nuclear/Biological/Chemical + associated weapons schools
Then you add in prerequisites and assessment/selection schools and you get a select few people with very technical skills. Stack the above skills on top of each other and you get even more capable men, many of which could be considered operators.

it is a stupid word used by faggots
so just mindset
an operator course determines if you are an operator. so just delta. my ranger buddy hated when unknowing people referred to him as an operator.

>-demo schools
>-Breaching schools
Different courses in the same school, no?
>>30539477
Not him. Was muhreen not Army.
But just because they deal with explosives doesn't mean they completely overlap. Demo could just be basically"Explosives 101". Then breaching school is "Explosives 201: applying your skills for specific tasks". There's a lot of redundancy no matter what in the mil.

>implying dumb grunt's who walk around on patrols and are literally too stupid to be allowed to dissasemblance their rifles are operator
