The Outlaw Josey Wales
Unforgiven
Less /k/ than the first two but Jeremiah Johnson is great. Both True Grit are good. Tombstone and Wyatt Earp are both awesome.
Most Eastwood westerns are decent if not always terribly /k/, the Dollars trilogy is a lot of fun.
The most recent movies I can think of where Indians were explicitly pitted against the protagonists was The Missing or The Revenant. Seems they mostly get token spots in the bad guy or good guys' parties since PC kicked in as if to nod and say they were there too.
Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee and Geronimo (1993) from the indian perspective, Wounded Knee is great, Geronimo a little less so but still solid. Neither did as well as they deserved to, I think people just don't like seeing the truth honestly.
The Last of the Mohicans is set during the French-Indian war, a little early for the west but very frontier.
Ken Burns Presents: The West is really a great documentary, on Netflix last I checked.

>>30528040
Surprisingly good for Michael Bay.

>>30528180
Now that I think about it another thing that was pretty distracting was the constant romantic cut aways for varying characters to say "Yes, everyone just wishes they were home," in the most heavy handed way he could manage.
Not saying I don't like the movie though. The Pacific did just about everything and better.
>>
>>30528243
>Good for Michael Bay
this. I didn't mind 13 Hours. I thought it was going to be kinda politically heavy but they managed to just show the broad strokes of what a mess it was. A few classic 'Bay shots' made me chuckle i.e. the final mortar round flying way up in the air. The video to the wife thing was kinda sappy but I guess have to put that in for the 12% female going with their bf/husbands
>another thing that was pretty distracting was the constant romantic cut aways for varying characters
Shit i forgot about that. Those were pretty heavy handed, the reading letters I think would've been enough. Also cliche "she's leaving me" letter while in combat.

I loved the Revenant, it was a pretty refreshing take on an era in American history that isn't really covered.

I liked Hardcore Henry.
The first half makes no attempt at being a generic action flick, and makes you realize that there's very much a human aspect in stereotypical action scenes, like in the bridge scene where Henry gets totally fucked up by mercs, and the car chase scene that gets cut short.

He eventually gets into the rhythm of things, Jimmy isn't just some bitch, ending on an extremely masculine note.

I should watch more Russian action films

Fury was fucking awesome.

It would have been better if the combat scene at the end didn't go on like fucking 30 minutes. It could have been played out so much better, with screening tactics confusing the germans to make them think there was a larger force in the area, causing them to retreat back. Something like that could have actually worked if they caught them just at twilight and forced them to wait out the night.

But nope, somehow an entire company couldn't take out a single fucking tank or just go around it. Obviously no one else was there but those 4 guys.

You are now aware that that was a toned down version of the events that occurred in Audie Murphy's MoH citation.

Fun fact: They toned down the events of his own movie, To Hell and Back, because they thought they would be unbelievable. I guess they were right.

You miserable, stupid, autistic fuck.

He had artillery support, and his men were seen taking cover within the woods. This, along with his 50 cal made the germans think there was a larger force in the area. You really cannot downplay the effect of artillery damage and confusion.

Far from what happened in the movie.

Guy is still a super badass though.
>>
/k/ was losing their shit when this was released, I honestly thought that it was gonna be a "muh proud Americun hero's movie"... But it wasn't, even for Bay's standards. it was a adrenaline pumping movie, with a level of grindness and storytelling easily comparable with black hawk down. And of course, it wasn't 100% veridical.

Payday 2 pre-bullshittery and all was just about as close as it gets to Heat: The Game
>community actually welcome to newbies
>stealth being highest payout
>communication and cooperation absolutely vital
>avoid using weapons, armor, anything that would draw attention at any cost
>scouting out, having a lookout, monitoring guard patterns and having situational awareness

I haven't played in so long. Not since the shit storm.
>suit up and murder endless waves of cops and SF/SWAT teams

Can any oldfags or anyone chime in? Is it worth reinstalling? Kinda want to play it for those old sneaky heist feels.

get a group of friends and just play Payday 1. Payday 2 is such a shitfest now, if you're not already into it, chances are you never will be.
>>
>>30544948
There are now a few cat-burglar type heists that auto-fail a minute after you get seen.

Most play-throughs are easier loud and heavy, especially with randoms, as soon as one person fucks up and the cops start charging in, your suit and suppressed glock become woefully inadequate and the whole thing becomes a do-over.

Its great with friends though, some jobs really require you to run as a well-oiled machine to do cleanly.
>>

ITT everybody from that era wanted to wash the memory of it out of their brains. They didn't want to watch it again. Also, all the european nations involved were practically in a financial depression, by the time people had perspective and money to delve into it, they were already getting ready for the next Great War

Now hold on just a daggum tootin minute, there.

Just because a movie is wildly overhyped and Tom Hardy fucking owns Leo in acting does not mean it's a shit movie. The storytelling was good, the acting was outstanding, the cinematography was superb. It has a GOAT bear mauling scene.

It's not a "OH MY GOD YOU MUST SEE THIS MOVIE" movie unless you are really into cinematography and absurdly long tracking shots, but that's okay.
